Today as we contemplate the Risen Savior Jesus Christ, please consider how the resurrection relates to your heart and your life. The Bible says that the resurrection creates within our own lives a living hope.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. ~1 Peter 1:3
In the ongoing blessing of Jesus in our lives, there are three things Jesus will never do.
JESUS WILL NEVER GIVE UP LOVING YOU
The most beloved verse of the Bible, John 3:16, affirms that God loves the world and Jesus died for the world. He didn’t die for the nice people, the rich people, the polite people, or just the sweet people. He died for the wretched, broken, sinful people of the world. That’s what we all were before Jesus.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
So many stories from Jesus’ life reflect his great love for people – even from the cross. Do you hear Jesus on the cross saying, “Father forgive them…”
Jesus’ love is not diminished after His death and resurrection. Will you let yourself believe that no one loves you more than Jesus Christ right now? His endurance of the suffering at the cross is proof. He is never going to stop loving you.
JESUS WILL NEVER LET DEATH WIN
Death defeats us, robs us of serenity, takes our loved ones, and threatens us every day.
Ancient texts reflect that this is a part of the human condition.
Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all humanity! Who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave? ~ Psalm 89:47-48
How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble! We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear. ~Job 14:1-2
It looks like death wins. From our perspective, that’s just true. We don’t have the promise of tomorrow. But but the truth is that Jesus killed death on the cross. Yes, people still die – but there is now the promise of resurrection.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he has put everything under his feet. ~1 Corinthians 15:26-27
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” ~1 Corinthians 15:54
The power of God has never been clearer than at the resurrection of Jesus.
JESUS WILL NEVER FORGET HIS PROMISES
When you consider His promises, know that they are forever.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. ~John 14:1-3
We live our lives in faith understanding that He will keep His word.
This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. ~2 Timothy 1:9-10
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ~Revelation 21:4-5
Today as we contemplate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, He is calling us to put our faith in Him. What blinders are in place today that are keeping you from seeing the Lord Jesus? I’m praying those blinders will fall and you will see the glory of Christ and your need to follow Him.
