Yes,
that was me for most of my life. I was a friend of the world, and an enemy of
God! I say
that because I embraced all the things that people of the world said I should
embrace. I wanted the things that people of the world treasure and hold in high
esteem. I sought to satisfy the desires of my flesh. Most significantly, however,
I was willfully and continuously sinning by lusting for beautiful women on a daily
basis. I had developed an addiction that needed to be fed. Yes, I had an addiction
to porn. This addiction lasted more than 30 years, before I washed my hands and
purified my heart. My focus was all about me. I was not concerned about seeking
God, about knowing God or about serving God. I may have acknowledged that there
was a God, but so what, demons do more than that. Demons acknowledge, know about
and believe in the power of God. As
a young boy some of my favorite TV shows were The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy,
Leave it to Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show and others of similar themes. In these
cases husbands and wives were not even allowed to be seen sleeping in the same
bed. Rob and Laura Petrie slept in twin beds. The same was true for Ricky and
Lucy Ricardo. As far as Ward and June Cleaver were concerned, I dont remember
even seeing them in a bedroom. Pornography
is now a multi-billion dollar per year industry. There are award ceremonies held
in various parts of the world, at which the people that star in and create porn
films are honored. A large portion of this revenue stream is being made via Internet
Pornography. But thats not all. Pornography and sensuality have invaded
every aspect of our culture. It is in our music. It is in our movies. It is in
our television shows, especially cable television. It is in every aspect of marketing
and advertising. Sex has become the most powerful tool of the advertiser. This
proves that the world has definitely embraced and desires pornography, and that
the world has crossed-over any inhibitions that previously existed regarding unbridled
cravings for sexual gratification. I
wish that I had submitted myself to God at an earlier age, but I cant change
the past. I am, however, very thankful that I now have a relationship with God
through His son Jesus Christ. I know that I am no longer a friend of the world.
My eyes have been opened to the truth, and the truth has set me free. I have been
baptized into Christ, and therefore, I am a new creation. The old has gone and
the new has come (1 Corinthians 5:17). Now, I turn away from the things of the
world and I seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Romans 8:28 indicates
that, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who
love him, who have been called according to his purpose. I
have grown to know and love God. I know that I have been called according to his
purpose. God has delivered me from my addiction, and is now allowing me to be
his humble servant. I have become a full-time minister of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, and I want to share the great news about Jesus with the lost. My heart
cries out for and yearns to help people who have not been able to break free from
the bondage of various types of addiction. I
was an Enemy of God! I once was lost, but now Im found. I am now a true
child of the living God saved by His grace and my faith in his only son, Jesus
Christ. If you are struggling with an addiction, please know that God wants to
deliver you as well. Gods desire is that you be freed from the wages of
your sin. Jesus came so that you may life, eternal life, and have it to the full.
All you have to do is have faith in him, and surrender yourself to his will. With
the victory that you will have in Christ coupled with the power of the Holy Spirit
you can overcome your addiction.
