Suppose there were a physician who had such skill that people would not die, or even though they died would afterward live forever. Just think how the world would snow and rain money upon him! Because of the pressing crowd of rich men no one else could get near him. Now, here in Baptism there is brought free to every man's door just such a priceless medicine which swallows up death and saves the lives of all men.

Yeah, right.  And he's going to prove it with DNA.  Of course, that means he would have to have an authentic sample of Jesus' DNA, or at least that of a close relative.  Chicken and egg problem, but it sounds convincing to the gullible.

And it still falls down from the simple fact that, if the body were available, the authorities could have produced it to stop the new, disruptive religious movement that claimed Jesus had risen.  And, those who had buried the body would scarcely have gone to gruesome deaths to support the claim.

Ten years from now, Jesus' disciples will still be proclaiming his resurrection, and James Cameron's claim will be a footnote.

That nonsense doesn't prove anything. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and laughs at man's feeble efforts to disprove His resurrection.

It looks like a new attempt to attack the credibility of the faith.

This report is the lead story on the Today Show on NBC this morning.  They just showed a shot of what someone is claiming is the tomb of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

I don't know who's buried there.  But, the Jesus we know isn't.

The Today Show is doing their usual "up next"... "coming up next"... and delaying the report.

But, Matt Lauer just said that these boxes may have "once" held the bones of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, according to some.

Sorry, 2000 years later... and still no body...

It looks like a new attempt to attack the credibility of the faith.

And a desperate attempt for attention while cashing in on Dan Brown's financial success...

Here's a site that will interest you. Experts have found a tomb with the bones of Jesus, as well as those of Mary Magdalene. Their findings are based on DNA testing. The site seems really reputable and the articles are engaging. I really think they’ve done their research ,as the site seems to really point to the historical relevance of the finding. Plus, they're not trying to refute the signifance of Jesus as a religious figure, or the resurrection or ascension. The site is: (link removed due to forum rules concerning posting links before 20 posts--but I'll repost it below).

Considering we have the DNA of Jesus' descendents to compare it with, the DNA proves it conclusively.... Look around   Doh!

(I'll move this and then merge it with the other thread.)

Here's the link that was originally in the above post:  www.jesusfamilytomb.com.

I haven't read the link yet, but I heard the people this morning on the Today Show, and I believe the dna thing has to do with "Jesus" and "Mary Magdelene" (using a different name) not being related, so we know they were husband and wife.

Sounds real scholarly.

The DNA is allegedly from "human residue."  And, marc is right.  It was based on the idea that one sample of human residue was determined to come from someone who was not related to the person from which the other sample of human residue was tested.

Hardly conclusive evidence.

At least, this is what I surmised from the report on the Today Show where Cameron and an "investigative journalist" on the case were interviewed.

I know the Ossuary of James thing died down, but I believe I read that it turned out to be a hoax, in spite of all the assurance otherwise.
