I know a lady who used to take the position that we wouldn't know each other in Heaven, because she didn't think she'd be able to enjoy it if her daughter wasn't there.  I think God will take care of things.

I really do think that we will remember Earth. We will also see that in comparison to eternity....it was such a spec of unimportance that we won't give it too much additional thought.  It served a purpose....it's not THE MEANING of life. It was only the means to the desired end.

Good thoughts, my friend!

I honestly can hardly remember many details about my own past.  If it wasn't for my wife, I wouldn't have much of a past.  I don't remember much without much prompting and "don't you remember....!"  Maybe that is 'imperfect' and when i get to heaven - I will be 'perfected' and suddenly remember everything?  I hope not.

crosstitled said it -- it's in God's hands, I will be with him and I have been promised no more tears.

If I am made to forget, if that's God's idea, well, He's God, and I will relax in His hands.

If I remember all, even the sad parts, and yet He is able to comfort me so perfectly that I cannot weep about it -- well, He is God, if He can't do it it cannot be done.

If we didn't remember this life in heaven, wouldn't we be curious, and rather taken aback by the guy whom everyone is worshipping with the scars in his hands and feet?

Isn't this the obvious conundrum in thinking we remember nothing of this world in the next?

Does the Bible say that Jesus will still have the scars in His new glorified body.  If so, does that mean my friend who lost her leg 2 weeks ago will still have only one leg in heaven.
After the Judgment and we have our new bodies, I don't think they will be imperfect like these flesh bodies are.
Other than that I don't know what we will remember because the Bible doesn't tell us.

There's a whole realm of discussion on whether or not that body Jesus had after He walked out of that tomb was His glorified body, or not, yet.

And even if it was, there's a whole area of discussion on whether or not those scars were simply allowed for our sake, for recognition and for Thomas -  until He should return to the Father.

I think Jesus had to be the same so his disciples would know that it was HIM.

Yes.

I remember reading something about seeing the "scars" but I can't remember where or in what context it's to be taken.

Paul speaking about the resurrection tells us that it doesn't yet appear what we shall be but we shall be like Him at his appearing.

We know Jesus took on the human persona to come to earth and die for us.

I remember reading something about seeing the "scars" but I can't remember where or in what context it's to be taken.

Jhn 20:27 "Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing."

This context is that Thomas didn't believe until he literally saw the scars of the nails and the spear. Since this is post-resurrection I think its fair to say that Jesus kept the wounds of the cross. Besides according to these verses it seems likely that our bodies can enter into eternal life maimed. (cf. Mat 5:29-30, Mat 18:8-9, Mar 9:43-48)

But truthfully this is a side issue.

What do you make of Paul's words - (not a direct quote)
Paul speaking about the resurrection tells us that it doesn't yet appear what we shall be but we shall be like Him at his appearing.
Doesn't this imply that He may not look the same?

Jesus healed the lame and blind, etc.  Would it really be heaven to someone who had only one leg or one arm?
There's just a lot of it I don't understand...

Yes, I agree that it's not that important to know these things or God would have just told us.
