Hiya all...

Hoping some of my non-Catholic friends out there will share how you celebrate this week.

PLEASE reserve the anti-Easter rants for the already open threads.  PLEASE!

Just hoping to hear how you celebrate the most important Christian day.

Our church is having a showing of the Passion of the Christ tonight (thursday) to get the full flavor of the suffering and sacrifice Jesus made,then a lament service on Friday evening. My bible class is having a Passover Seder on Friday evening at the same time the rest is doing the lament service. That kinda caused some friction, but we successfully made the case that God had set the appointed time and we couldn't do a thing about it.  Sunday we will be celebrating Resurrection Sunday. Then we will assemble on the lawn for the Easter Egg hunt..........not really.

Yes it IS good news that He Is Risen! It's good news EVERYDAY

Thanks for sharing Jamie!

Sounds like a lovely group... so neat to hear about the movie tonight.  Catholic media tended to focus on the Protestants who found the movie "too sad", so it is nice to hear it does not apply to all non-Catholics!

Every non-catholic I know loved the movie, whether Baptist, Methodist, CofC, or whatever. From what I gathered, some Jewish folks were a little put off by it. It wasn't the Jews fault that Jesus was crucified, he gave himself up to be killed as part of God's plan of redemption to bring about the fulfillment of Abraham's blood path covenant in Genesis 15. It's all one story. Not Old and New, but first testament and second testament. Jesus is on every page of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Contrary to what my home congregation thought when I graduated from High School in 1971. They gave me a New Testament, with my name embossed on the cover. Nice, but only about 1/3 of the story. Kinda like going to the library and checking out only the last 200 pages of War and Peace.

We are planing on going to an evening service tomorrow, and having a brunch sunday.

The easter egg hunt is at home in the morning.

Egg hunt with a group or just at home?

My youngest is 12 so we stopped going to the public hunt at the K of C ... just gonna stay home and have fun with the family.

It is definitely a sad movie. Nothing like vividly seeing the portrayal of a perfect man offer himself up to take the punishment that I deserve, and he appropriated the salvation and blessing of God for me that He deserved.

This will be just my kids at home, I don't know if the church is doing anything other than their brunch.

At my Church of Christ congregation this Sunday will look like any other Sunday. The word "Easter" will not be used. No flowers, no banners, no special songs. It might as well be October.

There are a couple posts here about lent and Holy Week (and a few irrelevant posts): http://www.robersonblog.blogspot.com

I have posted various prayers each day of Lent on fb.

Our CoC congregation will have a Maundy Thursday meal and communion; will have a Good Friday evening service; and will have both a Sunrise and Easter morning (regular time) service.

My wife and I will use this opportunity to participate in some of these, and also visit a Disciples of Christ Maundy Thursday, and a Lutheran Good Friday Tenebrae services. Easter morning has not been decided yet.

Last night we watched The Miracle Maker as a family for our youngest daughter.  Wished I had The Animated Passion movie instead, but we made due with what was available at the stores. Stopped it after Jesus died...and will finish with His resurrection on Sunday morning!  ::clappingoverhead::

We will go to Church and worship, and then have a nice meal together as a family.

Tonight we color eggs, just because its fun.  Easter basket will be out in the morning, but not a big deal...just jelly beans, some chocolates and a tiny gift...BUT my little one know its from us and not the EB.   ::smile:: (we did do the EB, but when she asked us honestly if EB and Santa were real, we were honest and she was like  ::shrug:: "hunh...ok!"
