Wow, what a past read!  I now know why I tire pretty rapidly when debating these issues.  I remember those discussions and how challenging they were to participate in.

And, now, to think that Jack and I would embrace as brothers in Christ Jesus!  It is remarkable how God does work.

Hey, Jack, if you should read this, blessings to you, brother.

Ephesians 2:8-10  Who saves, how He saves, why He saves.

"8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Many will be lost while hoping and desiring to be Christians.
They do not come to the point of yielding the will to God.
They do not now choose to be Christians.

Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may be made in your life.

By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers.

You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the new life, even the life of faith.

God placed man under law, as an indispensable condition of his very existence.

He was a subject of the divine government, and there can be no government without law.

God might have created man without the power to transgress His law; He might have withheld the hand of Adam from touching the forbidden fruit; but in that case man would have been, not a free moral agent, but a mere automaton.

Without freedom of choice, his obedience would not have been voluntary, but forced.
There could have been no development of character.
Such a course would have been contrary to God's plan in dealing with the inhabitants of our world.

It would have been unworthy of man as an intelligent being, and would have sustained Satan's charge of God's arbitrary rule.

God made man upright; He gave him noble traits of character, with no bias toward evil.

He endowed him with high intellectual powers, and presented before him the strongest possible inducements to be true to his loyalty towards God.

Obedience, perfect and perpetual, was the condition of eternal happiness.
On this condition he was to have access to the tree of life.
