Hickscox Baptist Manual...Has anyone read it?

I have been a Baptist(Southern) most of my life, and never heard of the Hickscox Baptist Manual until a few years ago. I hope to read it, since this is where the Baptist foundation came from.... I'd like to know if any one proclaiming to be Baptist has ever been told by their preacher about this manual, because I was never told by any clergy about this book, and I'm 58 yrs old.....

Why would you want to read the teachings of a mere man, when you have the bible?

I wanted to know how so many people that claim to be Baptist all their lives aren't aware of it's exsistence, much less has read it. The Baptist denomination is based on the Hickscox Manual, why wouldn't a Baptist want to know where their doctrine comes from, to know if it's Biblical?


Where in the Bible would I go to find The Bible Church & true Bible doctrine?

  interesting, Do you have a copy of it?  What year was it originally written?  I found something on amazon but it is called Hiscox...could this be the same manual?

HI, Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. The correct spelling is Hiscox Baptist Manual, it originated in 1859, by Edward Hiscox. I have looked at a copy in the bookstore, but I have ordered to one to read and very carefully compare every aspect along side the Bible. In the few minutes I scanned it, I noticed discrepacies in what it teached and what the Bible teaches.
