Glad you posted, Jon-Marc.  We're not part of the Southern Baptist either.
There must not be many Baptists in this forum or maybe they would just druther not say.

I'm a A/G-Bapticostal... tried and true.  I love the Baptist, they preach the word straight up. And I am spirit filled tongue talking, dancing in the isle, praising the LORD any time I can too.  I've gone to two denoms since getting saved... AG and when we can't find one of them, we go to the Baptist church. My Baptist friend asked me if I would please start coming to her church more, and help to shake up things and wake up someone. LOL. I think there are people in the Baptist church who would love to clap their hands and tap their feet with joy if someone would just tell them it's OK.  God Bless the Baptists!

You know... Mark Lowry is a Baptist... My kids love him.

Amen! Kensington, we love to feel the Spirit working in our lives. It makes you happy and it makes you rejoice. We've been to some pretty cold services around. Makes me wonder if the Lord is still among that congregation.  I know a few who have run Him off.  LOL  You would be welcome at our church! We believe in doing what the Lord puts in your heart to do.

God Bless

I see nothing wrong with being Spirit filled and Spirit led, but too many Pentecostal churches put way too much emphasis on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit points people to Jesus and not to Himself. Of course, God is a Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We can't leave one out and say He's not important. However, each of the Three has a different function, and the function of the Holy Spirit is to convict the lost of their need of a Saviour and point them to Jesus, to convict the saved of sin in their lives, teach, guide, and direct us toward being a mature and spiritual child of God.

You forgot that the Holy Spirit was also given to us for power to live out our salvation( Acts 1:8). He also manifest himself through us in the in ways that man can not do without the Holy Spirit.

Lots of Baptist off-shoots on this board.   Some of them like to call themselves "RM'ers."

What is it about the RM that you feel the need to insult them?

Isn't insulting, it is the truth.
No it is not the truth.  But you insist on saying so.  By your same reasoning, you must be a Catholic off shoot calling yourself something else.  Or perhaps you are simply a Catholic.

It is the truth.

What is the truth?  That you are a (Roman) Catholic  off shoot calling yourself something else or perhaps you are a RC?

Gary's not an RC; he's an Upper-10.

I am also a Baptist. I was in the RM (Christian Church) for about 8 years and left over the issue of baptism and coming to terms with eternal security as a biblical doctrine.

Hi, happy to meet you. I don't even know what RM stands for.  Maybe somekind of reformation or something.  What is the issue over baptism if I may ask?  There seems to be a lot of different believing Baptist.
Hope you enjoy the forum.

The RM stands for the Restoration Movement (Christian Churches/Churches of Christ). The issue of baptism is that the RM believes that one is not saved until they are baptized. That is the point they believe that one is forgiven of sin and the Holy Spirit is given. I left because that belief was always conflicting for me. Through my own time in study and prayer God showed me that it is by grace through faith with nothing else added.

I believe also that only the blood of Jesus can save us, wash away our sins.

I love that song... "Nothing But the Blood"...   Only, we kinda sang it "Rockin" when I was in the A/G choir.   Amen!

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
