Wednesday; not Friday
« on: Sun Dec 16, 2012 - 18:10:13 »
We all should know by now that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday.  And, three days later He arose.

Thursday was an High Holy Sabbath: The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,)
John 19:31 (KJV)

WED 6PM to THU 6PM = 1 day
THU 6PM to FRI 6PM   =  day 2
FRI 6PM to SAT 6PM    =  3 days              Jesus arose sometime after on the first day of the week which began at 6PM SAT.

High Holy Sabbath is a regular happening event ever so often.   Saturday is not the only Sabbath day.

Some try to say Jesus was place in the tomb on Friday. That would only make one day in the tomb.

Regarding Easter: it is pagan from Babylonian worship.   Jews observe Passover and Christians observe Jesus' resurrection.

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. 2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Acts 12:1-4 (KJV)

Herod was observing the pagan Easter.  Neither Christians nor Jews observed Easter.

Just one more good reason not to use the KJV. Even the NKJV has "passover" in this verse, as does every other translation I checked.

Herod was a fourth generation Jew. He catered to the Romans and had parties from them. They celebrate Easter at Herod's palace.   The KJV is the only correct English version we have.

Others are from minor text from a path out of Rome.

If you believe that then perhaps you'd like to buy some ocean front property that I own . . . in Missouri.

Simple history.  High Holy Sabbath is a fact.  It is documented in history and scripture. Why not believe it?

Three days, 3 whole days and Jesus arose on the first day of the week. This was sometime after 6 PM on Saturday.

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matt 12:40 (KJV)

Obviously if Jesus was taken down from the cross and buried shortly before 6 PM on Friday - that is only one day.  Some like to teach anything that will discredit scripture and create a lie.

High Holy Sabbath was on Thursday per scripture.

Yes Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday. But uh dude....you really need to get out of mindset of KJV being the only bible we should use it is kind of silly. That is also something that we all should know by now. ::smile::

It is the only English language Bible; not the only Bible.   God's word and words are true. God promised to preserve His word. And He has.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Psalms 12:6-7 (KJV)

The various Bibles are easy to trace both from the Apostles and those out of Egypt.   God has given His word to every generation; many versions.  Not one translation is the word of God.  Use wisdom here.

How long was David with his grandfather?  This is an incredible marker for true text.

uh yeah the Lord has preserved his word for ever...Sam it didn't stop in 1611.  You are correct that not one translation is the word of God.  So it is ok with you if i use my ESV bible? ::smile::

High Grappler.  I can't not dictate.  Your ESV varies ~10%.  I started studying manuscript evidence in 1978 and enjoy it.    Maybe you should join a local body of believers and teach.  You are knowledgeable.  You may be a help to a great many.

ESB carries a slant to Codex A and influence of W&H.

Thanks for the compliment.  We have agreed on some of the discussions on here and you seem very knowledgeable as well.  I don't use the KJV any more and have found the ESV to be the bible i like to study.
