This looks like a great idea Lee!

Although not a business owner, I look forward to hearing views of those who are in business, as a Christian, and how things are run in that area.

I am only to the point of trying to live out my Christian walk in front of many at my workplace that don't yet know Him as their Savior and Lord.

Blessings.

I bet we can have lots of threads/discussions over time re: "Does Boycotting Work?" and "Ethical Consumerism" too.

I'm Not a business owner, but a discussion of ethics is particularly important if a person is going to let it be known that he/she is a Christian businessperson.  I've actually heard someone say that when they see someone advertise their secular business by saying "We're Christian", they take this as a warning and stay away.  Too many people use "I'm a Christian" as a way to win people's trust, then prove they didn't deserve that trust in the first place.

I used to work in Christian radio, and this was way too common.

I've heard many people recently talk about the responsibilities of a Christian in business.  There's a lot of potential for this baord.

Maybe this is a good place for a poll I've been thinking about.

For the poll, I vote 'YES' or 'D. None of the above'.

This board is giving me lots of ideas.  Thanks for creating it, Admin.

What an awesome topic!  We operate a web Christian Mall to help support our ministry.  All proceeds go toward the furthering of the gospel throughout the word - minus costs.  Does anyone of any ideas on how to expand our business?  Currently we offer movies, cd's, t-shirts, books, bibles, and gifts.  Does anyone of any ideas on how to gain better exposure?  We really do not have a whole lot of merchandise at the moment but will grow as business warrants.  Again, GREAT THREAD!

the key is marketing and exposure. It is also a good idea to find sponsers the world will relate to, like partner with 'make a wish foundation'.

Can we specifically advertise our Christian business here? I do not want to overstep my ground, so i will wait until I know if that is acceptable here.

As christians, we don't have to cheat to become rich. God has created avenues for His children to create wealth legally. The Bible says in III John 2, Its God's desire for us to prosper and also in Deut 8:18, It says its God that gives us power to get wealth. The Greatest fo such opportunities can be found here

What a great idea for a thread topic. Sorry to see it isn't used more.

To answer Souls For Christ's question about exposure;  We recently installed an Affiliate Program on our site and started advertising it on the Baptist Ads Network.  In just three months, this program is responsible for a 30% increase in on-line sales.

Hope this helps and I hope this thread gets more attention in the future.

Newbie on the block alert!

I don't know if there is a smiley for tearing my hair out but I'm there!
Two days ago, I bought some overstock clothes from a liquidator with the idea of flea marketing them.  Then I saw some other listings I thought would be good....     Needless to say the snowball has grown a bit in size.
So, I've been trolling around the net today trying to figure out how to get a website started for a manageable  amount of money.   It's about 12 hours later on the second day of my weekend and I'm no farther than I was this morning and without the weekends chores done either.     Ahhhhhhh!!

I'll take any suggestions.   Please!

Well, AK, it's not exactly an answer to what you asked, but you should know that an internet troll is not a good thing . . .

You were surfing the net.

It depends on what you think is a "manageable" amount of time and money. Professional ecommerce sites can cost thousands of dollars. There are a lot of things to consider; security, advertising, etc. Maybe you would be better off to sell your wares on good old eBay.

Praise God.

This is awesome. Jesus Christ is Lord
Brothers and sisters in Christ, I give thanks to God for you and for this forum, because knowledge of Kingdom
Economics and provision is vital to our ministries and success as Christians.

It's very important that we understand this to be successful.

I just want to leave with you a quick message,

"To overcome you must rise above, and to rise above that means that God will take you from below."

I know there are many who are hurting right now, but know that what you have to do is very simple.
You know I could give you lots of business tips, and all that, but I'll keep it simple, to the point and most effective.

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not worry about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the Peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

Thank you for this forum and please keep up the good work in Jesus' Name.

Hi I have just become the proud owner of an Online Christian Superstore.  What I would like to know since I am new at this is if I have a lead list of email addresses. How can I get the word out about my new store without spamming.  Thanks for any and all support I can get.  This is a whole new adventure for me.

One of the best ways to reach your email list is with a e mail signature. Fill out your signature with your web info that way you do not have to spam or ask anyone it is just there on any e mail you send.

You can also enter forums like this one and give other people good value answers and post your website link at the end of your message for more traffic. My daughter was going to do it  for a gentleman overseas but it did not materialize. He was looking to get some inbound links for search engine optimization to receive better rankings for his website in the search engines to attract more visitors to his site. Check out the posting rules first to see if they allow you to put your website link at the end of your post.

Outstanding and comforting advice The Lord is the only one that can prosper
His Children no matter what the global economy is doing . Proverbs 37:5 says Commit your way to the Lord,
trust also in him and he will bring it to pass." God Bless all on this forum! ::cool::

The first place to begin is to make sure you have a good email marketing software - where you can enter the emails you have and create a list of customers/prospects that are interested in what you offer.   Begin to write them emails on a topic that is related to your products, then end the email with a signature that has your store website address.  (do you have an online store? use that store URL at the signature)  You can also offer a discount on certain products.  People love discounts and love value. Did I answer your question?

Wish you success in your new store/business.  God bless you

I am new to this forum and I am new to business.  I have launched a Christian based website.  We sell t-shirts and a book with all the designs we have come up with.  What is the best way to market this?

Thank you and God bless?

Hi everyone!

I've been a Christian my whole life, but I just started my own business a few years ago. I really try to run my business based on the Christian ethics and values I was raised with. I try to be honest, hardworking, reliable and trustworthy at work and at home.

I try to stick with companies that have the same values so my customers get the best service possible. That's why I use Christian Processing. My customers get reliable, trustworthy service and their payment info stays secure. Also, I get to pass on 25% of the revenues to my favorite ministry or church, which is the Crossroads Christian Church.

The only thing more important to me than my business and family is my church, so using Christian Processing works out nicely. My clients get great honest service, so I get peace of mind knowing their information is secure and my church gets a donation.

Hi came upon this thread with some excitement, thinking it will be a lot of Christians sharing ideas on how they run their (new) businesses and what works for them etc. I must say in general there doesn't appear to be much of that going on though...
Some of your comments had some value though, like BizSol08 who says they are able to give 25% of their proceeds to their church, that's amazing! I would love to hear more from you. How are you able to do that?
I have been running my own business for about 6 years now and had some very hard lessons along the way, that is why I am trying to get in contact with other small/new business owners to discuss how to honor God through your business. I also started a blog a while back documenting some of the things that I have learned. You are welcome to go have a look, I hope it will be helpful to some of the readers. It's called "Christian small business", currently running on wordpress.com: LINK REMOVED
