stock market or no stock market
« on: Mon Jun 03, 2019 - 21:02:01 »
I wanted to ask others here. Is it Christian like to invest in stocks in the stock market?

Well maybe you can gain money from this. But you can also lose all your money as well. I have been thinking of this for years. Whether to do it is right or wrong. Not that I have any involvement. I just think and ponder about certain things kind of randomly.

So if you can gain in the stock market. Or if you can lose all your money depending what happens to your stock.. then is this too risky?

Do you think God approves Christians to invest in the stock market or is it a waste of time and money? Would God want to use this money for other purposes?

What do the members here think according to biblical standards and ones Laos point of view on business matters for everyday Christians world wide?

It is a LIBERTY that we have. Christianity is NOT a black and white religion that many try to make it be. Most companies give their employees stock options and will MATCH such money that you put into the company that you work for.  NO ONE has sinned by doing this. It is actually a wise thing to do.

One CAN get greedy and be OVERLY concerned about such things, and by doing so, will cause that believer to not bear very much fruit.  The parable of the sower is given to warn us of such things.

Christians can USE this world and the things therein, we just need to be careful not allow this world to overcome us.
Quote from: Paul
1st Corinthians 7:29-31~"But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away."
To say more or less, would either bring God's children under the bondage of MAN'S religion or make them LIKE THE WORLD. There's a grey area that Christians live in and we do it by faith, not by man-made commandments. We are NOT Mennonites, nor are we given over to Antinomianism.

Hey RB

The reason why I was thinking about this question is because I have a brother-in-law named Marty. He had inherited $100,000 from a close family friend. Him and my sister have 4 kids.
With the the money he bought a Toyota truck, home furniture, big screen TV and things for the backyard. The family hardly got anything. He put about $20-25000 into the stock market.
He lost it all. I thought that he may have used some of it for the kids college education.

IMO I think that only those that make money can try but those that don't make a lot of money shouldn't.
