2007 Zoe Conference
« on: Thu Jul 12, 2007 - 20:35:20 »
Don't know if anyone is planning on going.  My wife and I were until I got the early registration info and saw the prices they are charging this year!  We will be changing our plans for our Fall vacation as we don't have the $400 plus dollars it will take to attend both the leadership and the worship conferences.

Anyone else planning to go who has been surprised at the price increase?

We changed our plans a little after seeing the registration info.
We will be going to the worship conf. only. I love Brian Mc Larin and reccommend anyone who is not familiar with him to give him a listen.Several from our Church family heared him at Zoe a couple of years ago as well as when he spoke at a function here in Indpls. The conference reccomends reading Mc Larens' book " The secret message of Jesus". I enjoyed this book and found it thought provoking as well.
On a different note  - the Speedway Church of Christ(Indiana) is hosting a Stone-Campbell gathering on the weekend of August 11. There will be at least one speaker from all three streams of the movement as well as q&a sessions. You can check out their site for more info.

Somewhat disappointing.  The new schedule released recently has the worship conference ending at 6pm on Saturday and a "pre-recorded" Jeff Walling on Friday night.

Looking at the most recent schedule and comparing to previous schedules they are starting 1/2 hour earlier on Saturday, shortening lunch hour by almost an hour and instead of having 15 and 30 minute breaks between classes they only have 10 minutes.  Also there is no 2 hour dinner break on Saturday since it will end at 6:15.   Ending at 6:15 will allow those having to drive home Saturday night to stay for the entire conference.   ::clappingoverhead::

1)   The cost is too high.  It is quickly becoming completely unaffordable.

2)   The new schedule worked fine.  It was a bit more exhausting but it gave us Saturday evening to go watch Ohio State play!    ::smile::

3)   The singing was just amazing!  Those 1,000 voices were very powerful!  And the "Overflow" cd is more upbeat than last years's "Closer".

4)   Brian McClaren did a superb job and was very enjoyable to listen to!  I recommend any opportunity to hear him speak.

5)   I hope someone can tell me how the last artist on Saturday afternoon did what he did on that canvas with the two world's colliding!?  Was his canvas already pre-stenciled or something??  That was just unbelievable!
