Watching Dr. Phil, watching spouses being so critical of each other made me think, how sad is we cannot even build each other up in our marriage. Is anybody perfect? No, but concentrating on the negative sure does not change things.
The nicest thing I said to my husband was Saturday, I said " You are so smart, in everything." He is too.  The nicest thing he said to me was yesterday, after church. We took separate cars, because I taught two children's SundaySchool classes, and he does not enjoy our current adult class series. I went early to teach the kids, and had to clean up SS room afterwards. He was home first. He said to me, when I walked through the door." All day, I could not stop thinking how beautiful you are." Just out of the blue. It lifted me up, because my self- esteem felt low that morning. Is the Elephant pitcher in my jungle bathroom still unhung? Yes, but I will hang it? Does the garage still need cleaned ( Big Yes), but so? He hung shades for me, last night. I have my faults too, does the small bathroom need cleaned, yes. But I cleaned his home office.
I am going to try and build him up, with sincere praise, not fake, I do not have to make things up, there is a list of of good things that could, go on forever. Maybe a lot of past marriage hurts could be done away with, if we all could be more positive. Thoughts? Tell me something said to you, or you said to build up your spouse.

I dont think I can pin down any specific comment by either of us but its more just that we both compliment each every day. We dont take our relationship for granted, but both of us give compliments to the other on just about everything.

My husband looked at my photo when we were first married 27 years ago and said you are just as beautiful as the day I married you.  To me that said it all.  I feel I have been blessed in many ways by my husband.  He is kind, gentle, patient and never judgmental.  He is my best friend!!
Thank you Jesus for the peace through you that I find in my husband.

The nicest thing my wife has said to me is "dinner's ready". She's a wonderful cook, and constantly blesses me with her time and energy to prepare a meal for her hungry family.

Yes indeed, sometimes it is the acts of love, though expression of love is good also. And yes, thank goodness for a wife that is a good cook, I am blessed with a husband that is one, needless to say, since I only like very limited food group, so not a very good cook. My favorite things are ricecakes, ( Carmel only) and ice, (Frozen water) and the bag of ice from one store. BTW my husband buys me Ricecakes and a bag of Ice every day on the way home. ( sweet). Yummy Yummy Yummy
