is this a test?
« on: Fri Jan 29, 2016 - 19:39:58 »
I have went to church a long time. But recently got into it a lot more. I drank too much and quit that. Since then everything I'm my life has went downhill. Marriage, cars breaking, house breaking down, job problems etc.. it seems never ending. Why is this happening? Why when I decide to do better in my Christian life are things going so wrong?

The enemy leaves you alone until you start living for God.

I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see. From Amazing Grace.

Maybe that's not scripture, but Satan doesn't leave you alone until you start schmoozing with God. I believe we are blind to our sins, until God opens our eyes.
Similar to thinking that putting away childish things will make a child a man, when it's actually becoming an adult will cause a person to put away childish things.
Just how it seems to me

I believe this is common place for people that are overcoming addictions and/or a worldly lifestyle, quite often we have suppressed things for so long in our lives that poor maintenance, or lack of maintenance of our personal lives and properties comes to a head when we attempt to see things clearly. Mat 11:28-30 is the key here.

Hello there,

God is perfect so when you go into God's light you'll be able to see the truth of you. This is good. The truth of you is what you'll take to God one day. You pray to be the best you can be humanly, don’t you? Yes there are down days. But you’re there. You’re going to church, you’re looking in the right direction and you’re on the path. With a perfect God to aspire to, of course you’re going to be…..human. But your there, you believe, you’re after God’s righteousness. And that’s all it takes. Not what you do for God’s acceptance, but your faith. And you have that faith.

While you are taking on the steep hills and adjustments of seeing yourself in God’s light again, of seeing yourself in the heavenly realm but with your current humanly bruises and scars from the general surroundings of the lightless world, maybe listen to this talk if you can find it on the internet somewhere. Its about if you were in heaven now, your aches and pains and sufferings would be medals of faithfulness.

The talks may have been called The blessing of suffering but maybe it is this link to The blessing of tears.

And insightforliving has a talk on now too, about picking up from nothing, what it takes, what to expect, now its done. Listen a few times, its neat.

Although many Christians hate to see their problems this way but the truth is that many of your problems in life are caused by God. In the scripture it is clearly stated that, "many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all" Psalm 34:19. The purpose behind these tests are so that you draw closer to God and become more Christ like. It is through the burdens and trials of life that we learn how to rely on God and obey his word. The devil can only tempt you in this life and has no power to take things away from you, "we know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him ." 1 John 5:18  So in everything you are going through realize that God is in control and it is your duty to yield to him and keep sin out of your life. In my 11 years of being a christian I went through many tests but the Lord delivered me out of them all. I have drawn very close to God and became more Christ-like which was God's plan for me. The more I obeyed God and removed sin from my life the better the situation got. I certainly hated those years of difficulty but looking back now I actually thank God for taking care of me through it all. God bless  ::smile::
