I love many many but Chris tomlins 'indescribable' is the one that sends shivers down my spine and makes me realise How amazing God is.
I just cant understand those who think that worship music in church is wrong, how they are missing out on a very special and intimate time with God.

It is Well With My Soul
The Love of God
How Great Thou Art
Fairest Lord Jesus
My Jesus I Love Thee
All Hail The Power of Jesus' Name
Crown Him With Many Crowns
Holy, Holy, Holy
O Worship The King

Those are the ones that come to mind right off the top of my head.

He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; like one from whom men hide their face; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.  Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.

I know what you mean.  I was at my High School Youth Group one Wednesday night and there were 2 guys in my grade on my left.  They were talking about what our Youth Leader was saying.  He was talking about at the end of the year when we meet up at another church and have a slide show of the senior's pictures the day before the graduation and how we sing to God before the slide show.  The one closest to me explained that the day was dedicated to God and singing to him.  The farthest one replied by saying, "Singing to God?  That's lame."  You have no idea how much I wanted to tell him off by saying that.  I wanted to literally punch him in the face and ask him why he's here if he doesn't want to worship God.  It made me so upset.  The worst part is that he's one of the "cool" Christians in our Youth Group and they don't really like to worship or obey God, they are mostly in it for the girls.

I know I don't get out much but you have lost me with this statement. I didn't think there was any kind of music for church other than worship music. Can you explain what you mean?

Hi snargles
Yes, I had never heard of this before but there are some on this forum who think that any sort of music in church is worng, even if it is worship music. Dont get it myself   ???Worshiping God with music is something so special and so precious and whenever we do it in church Gods presence is always so strong. I have certainly never heard it here in the UK so it must be an American thing in one or two denominations I guess.

When you said "some on this forum" a light went off in my head. Is this an instrumental vs a capella thing? I wouldn't think anyone here would object to vocal music in church but many of us don't use instruments in church.

I object to four part harmony.  It isn't authorized.  Eph 5:19 says to "make melody."  Four part harmony is vain worship, John 4:24.  Also, need to mention Nadab and Abihu.

I would rather we not sing most songs by Chris Tomlin or Matt Redman.

I would rather not sing anything written after about 1955. Too happy, lovey-dovey, all is sweetness, thank you, thank you, thank you, lets all make a circle and hug. Give me good masculine songs about going to hell and working in the fields from sun up to sun down.

i LOVE worshpping God with instruments as well as our voices. Then many who have great musical talent can worship God with that talent and Gods presence can fill the place as it usually does.
Music and instrumens are all God given and God inspired, what a waste not to use them for His glory.
