Here’s what’s awesome about that. Three of the people who accepted Christ that day attend my church. Now…these are some frightening looking dudes. It’s not just that they’re heavily pierced and tattooed, but they are big, bald, and VERY intimidating looking. They look like you wouldn’t want to run into them in a dark alley. Yet, I have never met a group of men more sold out to God. And so amazingly tender hearted!
When they first joined the church, there were a few people who felt that they should remove their piercing, become less intimidating looking, dress a certain way (someone actually suggested Dockers and Loafers!!!), and generally become the physical ideal of what most people consider a good WASP-ish Christian.
But here’s the really cool part. BECAUSE of their history and BECAUSE of they way they look, they have been able to reach people and go places that the majority of us would have a difficult time with. SO MANY people have come to know Christ because of their willingness to let God use them just as they are. Now…there is rather fast-growing group of “alternative type
