Another one bites the dust, or how to say the "S" word 500 times in 5 minutes.

I "met" another nice Christian man online!  This one seemed really strong in the Word, very handsome (whoa!), very masculine (double whoa!!) and I was excited to meet him.

We talk a few times, he seems fun, smart, etc if a little overbearing in the conversation department.  Now, keep in mind, I hare talking on the phone.  After a few mins I'm pretty done.  So, I chalk that feeling up to my grumpiness in general about longer than 5 min phone calls.  He does smoke which although I quit three years ago doesn't really bother me.  He also said he drinks almost nightly which in my thoughts can go either way.  He can either be a big booze hound or be like my grandparents who every single night drank a whiskey and 7up while grandma made dinner and they talked about their day.

Well, I talked to him night before last and oh my word.  He was loud, rude, interruptive and managed to say sh!t I don't know how many times.  This after he told me about how he doesn't cuss, etc.  He also said my pics were really "varied" on my online profile and made it sound as though they weren't mine?  Or something?  Well, yeah, my hair is down in a few, under a cap in one and up in another so what?

Anyhoo, he sent me a text in the morning and I am just not responding.  If he ventures in again to ask why I will tell him.

Well, he showed himself to you. Better to find out up front! You're smart for ignorning his text. Good riddance!

He probably got the message when you didn't respond. But if he does contact you again, and you feel the need to respond, keep it short and sweet. Some people will lash out no matter how nice you are about it (speaking from experience). It's better not to fuel the fire. Know what I mean? So if that happens, just ignore it.

But the "S" word is NOT taking God's name in vain and therefore is not "swearing."

It is however using a scatalogical term which falls under the definition of "cussing." That may or may not (depending on how you intrepret it) violate these verses:

Eph 2.29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Eph 5.4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.

Let me repeat that back at ya!  This 'nice Christian man' smokes, drinks every day, is rude, argumentative, swears like a trooper and in a veiled sort of way, accused you of lying with your profile pictures?

Want to revise the 'nice Christian, strong in the Word' description?   

I would personally be worried about someone who drinks every day!  I'm not averse to a few glasses of wine a week...but if he's doing it every day, that sounds to me like a person who *has* to drink in order to relax.   Not saying he has a problem...but when you use alcohol as your regular, daily mechanism for winding down, that's probably not such a great idea. 

This sounds like a VERY 'lucky' escape to me!   If he contacts you again, I'd tell it to him upfront, that you thought he was rude and disrespectful.
