You, my friend, are suffering from addiction. One definition of addiction is an obsession and compulsion to continue doing something that we know is harmful.

Obsession - that fixed idea that takes us back time and again to a particular behavior.
Compulsion - Once having started, we cannot stop through our own power of will.

My suggestion for you is to ask God to give you the willingness to stop, even for a day. Then start taking an honest look at the harm you are doing to yourself and those around you. Look for other, healthier, thoughts and actions with which to replace the undesired behavior (it is very hard to stop one behavior unless we replace it with another).

Don't focus on stopping forever, just focus on not doing it today. You can worry about tomorrow when it gets here. And remember, if you stumble you can always start over again. Failure is not falling down 999 times, it is getting back up only 998 times.

Peace,
Richard

Ask God to change it, whatever it takes.

Wiz64, I do not know whether you realise it but to break an addiction takes a great deal of courage and strength.  With a problem like you have, most suffers would not even admit to it, let alone seek help to cure it.

To do what you have done and sought help proves you have  the courage, strength  and will it takes to stamp on this  addiction for ever.  So every time the urge comes remember that you are strong and not weak, then turn away and occupy yourself with something else.

In addition to that make sure that you read the bible every day and ask God for even more of  his strength, in order to  break your addiction.  You will need to do that, because when you get over your addiction, you do not want to go back to it again at a later date - and the Spirit of God will keep you strong always.  And also follow the advice of the other two writers above as well.

This is going to seem unrelated but...

You are having a tough time out there...
Hanging out with those that want to belittle you all day.
Having trouble with succeeding at assigned tasks too....

Try focusing on that which you do well with and get a better class of associates.
And as sisco mentioned above...a little wasabi wouldn't hurt. Flaming

I agree completely! Now, to add to that (or maybe piggyback), since you know you have a problem, you are already halfway there. A lot of times, people may do things that are wrong, but don't think it's wrong, therefore, why would they change. In you case, you know it's wrong and you want to make a change. That's a blessing in itself. Now, with that said (and Richard already said it), take it one day at a time. Whenever you get the urge, do something else. Maybe take a walk or focus on something else. What I do when I feel the urge (I know this is personal, but hey, it's all good), I think about how God would feel. Really. I think about how far I have gotten and what me committing this sin would do for the peace he has given me (beause we know that sin breaks the connection between us and God). Of course none of us are perfect, however, if we are aware of something, then we must act like it and do our best to be good. So, take it one day at a time, continue to pray for the strength to let the desire go. And the longer you go without masterbating, the better you will feel knowing you are being good and the less you will desire to give in to tempation (because the temptation WILL be present).

May God bless you.
