While I was out yesterday,I met a nice lady who was already selling Valentines Day gift baskets. She asked me and my mom would I like to buy a gift basket.I was not interested in buying one because I know that I would not have a Valentines again this year and to be honest Valentines Day sort of depresses me with all those happy couples getting their balloons, candy, stuffed animals, whatever else they are selling for that special someone.I know it's kind of early in the month of January asking this question but does anybody dread or love Valentines Day?How do you deal with it?Does that day makes you happy or feeling lonely that you wish you had somebody to spend it with.

I do not enjoy Valentine's Day or any other time that celebrates couples. They mean nothing to me. I am twice divorced and have no intention of getting married again. Finding a Christian woman with whom I'm compatible is very unlikely. I'm not an easy person to tolerate, and I'm a rather selfish person in that I like everything my way. I took me two failed marriages to learn that fact.

I can't think about Valentine's Day yet, I still have Epiphany ("12th Night") to get through, and the  Mardi Gras season.

I don't always get recognized on Valentine's Day either, and I've been married over 25 years.  Here's one place I can sympathize a bit even though I'm not single.

And you know, it's not that I want a brass band and a singing dancing knight on a white horse to ride up in a limousine and hand me $1,000 worth of chocolate with a big diamond in every bonbon.  I'd just like just once a bouquet of flowers to show up at the office.

Just a suggestion starla--but why not still do that.  Go buy a bag of school-age valentines and pass them out to all your friends--it's great fun at any age!!

Yep.

Several times, if I didn't  have a boyfriend, I'd spend time making the day or eve be special for a male friend. Sometimes, when I didn't have a boyfriend and any of my friends who didn't, I'd have them come over and have a special day or evening planned. Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers. To me, it's for people you love and appreciate. My ex-husband gave me the best Valentine ever 17 years ago this year- HE LEFT!!! Last year, I invited 3 of my married friends and 4 unmarriable (hee hee) women from my Bible study over for a girls' night out the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Hmmm, since it was just for girls and our Bible Study teacher (a guy) wasn't going to be there, the only one's who came were my friends. We had great fun!! We watched girlie movies, gave ourselves facials, manicures and pedicures and everything I fixed was chocolate. We really had fun. I wanted so bad to tell the women from my Bible study group how much fun we had, but I didn't.
