It seems that at some point, the moderators of this forum decided to limit the impact of these Spiritual Sword postings by moving them to a less visible location.  That's a shame.

When has a table of contents had much of an impact?

Have you noticed that all topics relating specifically to Church of Christ issues, including those actually started by moderators are being moved here?

This assertion is based on a patently untrue premise.

For you to make a statement like this is a strong indication you really haven't read The Spiritual Sword at all.

Notice this is on the CoC fourm where it belongs.  Last time I checked SS was a CoC publication.  We have a Catholic fourm, DoC ETC.  Why does a legalist cry foul when they have to follow someone elses rules?

I don't think it even belongs here.  What we need is a separate section of the message board where folks can post the table of contents of books, magazines, etc.  Think about it.  Robert is posting a table of contents.  How about I post the table of contents from Les Miserables and wait to see if I can get a debate about Jean Valjean?

True, but things are changing, and now congregations are more open to truth instead of just protecting the status quo.  Open, honest teachers are becoming more prevelant, and the closed-ear "old Paths" types are losing influence.
Lively:  from what I have seen, the closed eyes and closed ears continue... I have been teaching on line for years now... and rarely ever see one open their eyes and specifically ask me what shall I do and allow me to show them where to find a church in their area to help them...
If you don't have any followers then you aren't leading.
If you don't have anybody asking where to attend, then perhaps you haven't been teaching.
Pontificating, yes.
Looking considerably inconsistent, yes.
Teaching, no.

It isn't a comprehensive treatment of the topic.
Nobody asked me to edit/critique/contribute to the edition.
Their's (and their readers' loss).
Pity.

It's simple, HR.  Would you just give us the title of your article?  Evidently that is all we need.

For one thing, this thread was only created in order to advertise something, which is generally frowned upon by the adminstration of this forum, regardless of what it is.  This is really a form of spam.

Most threads started for the purpose of advertising a magazine would be removed altogether for that very reason.

Lively:  I believe the reason it was posted was to open up the topic of elders and their duties...  if elders are doing their duties as taught in the gospel or not.  I really do not believe it was posted simply for advertisement of the magazine.

Lively:  The table of contents was posted to bring discussion of elders and their duties and if the elders of today in the church of Christ are or are not doing their duties....  the listing of the table of contents is simply to show a list of things discussed by the Spiritual sword concerning elders.  Of the things listed concerning the elders, are there areas in which elders are not holding to what the gospel teaches...  personally I think it was a wonderful idea to post it so one can look at areas of eldership and see if they are doing their duties as God has laid out in scripture...  are they watching over the flock as they should... are they keeping false teaching from entering into the church...  do they disciple when it is needed... ect...

He posts the table of contents just about every quarter when it is released.  The format is the same, along with the cost of subscription and mailing address.

So, it's not likely that this was posted only to stir discussion about a particular issue.  He's just advertising the latest edition as he does every quarter.

It seems that at some point, the moderators of this forum decided to limit the impact of these Spiritual Sword postings by moving them to a less visible location.  That's a shame.

The current issue, themed "The Responsibility of Elders" is a study of scripture regarding the eldership and it's work, as outlined in scripture.  Very well done, too.  As such, it belongs in the Theology forum, where it was originally posted.

Yet someone keeps moving these threads to a location where it's visibility is quite limited.

Censorship takes many forms, and that's what seems to be happening here.

It's not right.

Robert G

Robert G,

I moved your thread here so it would be in line with the rules of the forum:

2.2 You will not start threads with topics that are not relevant to the forum topic. Staff reserves the right to move threads to the appropriate forums.

As this is a CoC publication the CoC forum is the appropriate forum.

I could have deleted it in its entirety IAW rule 3.1.  If you would prefer I went that route let me know and I will do so in the future.

It has nothing to do with visibility or censorship.  It is about rules.  They apply to everybody and I do my best to enforce them equally.  I do tend to give the individuals the benefit of the doubt, but like I said, if you are unhappy with my following rule 2.2, I will be happy to follow 3.1 in the future.

In Christ,
KP

There isn't as much discussion anymore.  I think it irks some folks that the Spiritual Sword isn't very relevant anymore.
