All Those Gadgets!

I am getting setup on Twitter and Wordpress but I know nothing about things like widgets, etc.  Can anyone explain some of that stuff to me?  ::smile::   Please?

Truth be known, I don't even know what an IPod is  ::blushing:: and I hear they are already going away now?   rofl

A widget is simply a small set of computer code that does a specific thing on a webpage or computer. For instance, the clock (assuming you use it) on your computer is a widget. On a website, the code that keeps the advertisements running is a widget.

These little bits of code are called various things; widgets is just one of their names. Essentially, they are non-primary code that adds utility to a desktop or webpage.

An iPOD is a music, and video player. Some iPODs only do audio, some do both. Some have internet connectivity, and some can use various widgets which in this case, are called "apps." iPOD is specifically an Apple product. Other companies produce what are generically called MP3 players (MP3 being the music format used by most players, but not iPODs). Microsoft's version is called the Zune.

OOOOOOOOOOOOk   rofl

I am a very technically challenged person...

What I am trying to do is build a platform for my books, partly through Twitter and Wordpress.  Will I be able to set up widgets from,  Wordpress to link to say Amazon, etc?  I imagine I should get my own webpage set up, also.  When I was checking out Wordpress yesterday they were talking about widgets amongst other things...And I was going cross-eyed  ::tippinghat::

yes, you will be able to set up links from your website to Amazon. Amazon will provide you the "widgets."

A widget is just code. I don't use Wordpress, but I suspect they will allow you to insert htm code into your webpage. Check your user manual to make sure, but any page into which you can insert independent htm code, you can put a widget.
