Anti-Virus for Windows Millenium?
« on: Sun Feb 18, 2007 - 17:44:43 »
I have two computers. My main one is a laptop that uses XP and is protected by Bsecure Internet Protection. My old Desktop uses Windows Millenium. Bsecure just informed me that they no longer support Millenium.

Is there still some programs out there that protect Millenium. I need just a some basic protection. If not, does it make more sense to install XP on this old computer?

I remeber using my brother's computer and my parent's computer that had ME on it.  Felt like it was a virus in itself.

I would install XP, if those are my only options.  You should be able to get a leagle copy of XP pretty cheap right about now.

Once you have it installed go with AVG for virus protection.

Ubuntu Linux!  No antivirus needed.

Ubuntu Linux!  No antivirus needed.

Is that because of the system characteristics of Linux or is it because no one has gotten energetic enough to create the viruses that would attack Linux? I don't mean to ask a dumb question, but I really would like to know.

That's a legitimate question.  Really, both.  Windows is obviously the big target, but it also has some design characteristics that make it an easier target than either Linux or Mac OSX.
