Title: Any ideas why this would happen?
Post by: seekingHiswisdom on Fri Aug 02, 2019 - 08:03:49
I am down to 2 laptops.  One was made 10 years ago but used since 2012. The other from around 2015.

Both of them are suffering, from time to time the same issue, therefore I assume it is caused by Verizon.

Yesterday and this AM from time to time the screen vibrates asif it is shaking. Not the machine but the picture on the screen.

Ideas?

My gut reaction is that it is Verizon trying to get my attention as my 2 year bundle contract is about up and any calls to them I am asked if I want to redo my contract.

If it is router/modem issues. Last time I complained about issues tothem, almost 2 years ago, they "sold"me a new one that did not improve anything but took $150 plus shipping and tax off me. (They no longer supply these.)

Are you referring to a flickering screen?

Yes. That describes it. It is not always or consistent. Has been for 2 days.

That is usually an indication of a display issue, the shared graphics processor or the LCD screen itself could be on the way out.

Thanks Alan. I was afraid of that

Perfect. This one last evening and the one I wrote to you on this AM. 12 hours apart.

And my 3rd one. The newest totally died with a black screen about a week ago.

Well... possibly someones answered prayer  ::shrug::  rofl rofl. I may just be forced to be silent for a fortnight or longer ::cryingtears::

I may be down to my cell to work with and I cannot post on GC from there. I also cannot access all forum from there.

I cannot access the political forum from there.....

And yes TC I did look into Chrome book. Screen seems so small compared to the 17" that died.

But getting used to the 14" - 15" again now so we shall see.

Toodles

Why can’t you post from your phone? What happens when you try?

First thing is it wont let me log on. Although, in truth.. since I show no political forum for GC on the cell and would have no clue as to how to post a link, even if I could log on it is no hardship. I can read. I just cant comment.

Is the Specifics and Interests group on the home page expanded or collapsed? It may have gotten inadvertantly clicked.

I have run into this and there is a solution.

Down on the very bottom of the page there should be a link that says "switch to full site.". Click that link.  It should reload in your browser to look more like what you see on your laptop.

Jaime

Once I post this I will see what happens when I shut off.

At the moment when I first clicked to look at GC the list of forums I mentioned  before was like a drop down list.

Likely I need a new cell also but my next will be an old flip phone lol

I mostly use my phone and have to do this to get the full site nearly every day.

I've used my phone on a number of occasions, switching to "full site" allows you to use the site the same as on a PC with the exception of being able to click on the last post of a given thread.

I will try it on Wed. I will only have my phone and I will see if I can do it for the 2nd time.
