I only heard about the Dell recall when I got an email from my IT consultant.
Otherwise,  I wouldn't know.   Fortunately,  none of our laptops had the defective batteries.

In my office, we have about 25 Dell laptops, with every one of them having at least 1 spare battery. We only had 2 batteries out of at least 60 that had the #'s to turn in.

No.

Apple was using the same batteries as involved in the Dell recall.   If you're running a Mac,  you need to find out.

My iBook was manufactured just a few months before they switched to the affected batteries, so nothing for me.

Apple is justified in keeping their recall quiet:

(1) Hardly anyone buys their product and

(2) Those who do will never believe/admit that anything could be wrong with it...

Yeah, Mac users like their stuff...maybe some a little too much.  When was the last time you saw a Dell or Microsoft logo on the back window of a car?

In truth, I was kinda hoping my battery would be included in the recall...a new one would be nice. ::smile::

Mine was included.  Now it's power only for 4 - 6 weeks.

At this rate I'll get the new battery just before I sell my Powerbook and get a new Macbook Pro.

I heard on the news tonight that IBM is also recalling some Sony batteries used in their Thinkpads. (That is the name of their laptop, isn't it?)  I wasn't listening closely so I didn't catch any details.

Yes I believe that it is the Thinkpads for the same batteries as Dell and Mac.

But the good news is that they will send the Dell Users a battery from a ThinkPad and the Thinkpad users a battery from a Dell and those using Mac will get a nice set of Firestone tires for there explorers.

Why is this everyone's fault but Sony?

Who blamed anyone but Sony?
