Corrupted AVI from camera
« on: Sat Aug 17, 2013 - 03:16:08 »
The AVI that I received from my friend is recognized as 3.5MB but yet plays only 1 second of video and the audio is a pink noise.

I know there is more to the video than that.

I have tried software like DivFix (which gives up on the file), and iConvert something... forgot the name.

Any ideas?

I think you have received a corrupted file. This is not uncommon.
There are many technical reasons why a file can show up as 3.5Mb, but a player is not able to play the whole file.
It is very hard to uncorrupt video files.
Best thing you can do is ask your friend to re-send you the file.

If it is sent by email, you could ask your friend to pack (zip, rar) the file first. This sometimes helps.

Agreed.  But have your friend play it thru first to make sure his original is not also corrupted.
