I posted this on the weather thread few weeks back.

Then I posted this about 1 month later and it came out this way..........

Same phone. Samsung S5.

YET both of these will print in the correct, upright,  direction.

I also took about seven from the basement water coming in problem and in the phone, itself 6 are proper, 1 is on its side. Even though all were taken one right after the other, same time, same lighting and holding the phone the same way.

Now,  I notice, now, that some, not all, pics I put on Tiny Pic start out proper from my files (drop box) but when they make it to Tiny Pic they are on their sides..... but I just checked there and in the phone and they are displayed correctly. AND I have printed them and they print correctly... just no guarantees going to tiny pic... or with the phone itself.

I am sure it is me.... so I have decided I need to get a camera that will get pics onto the computer.....

Does anyone know of a decent ... does not need to be great.... relatively cheap one they can recommend?

This one I have not posted here yet.... it is from the computer

or this one ... this was uploaded into my pics from a very old pic.

And just this moment... taken yesterday... on its side  BUT a different direction

Just now originally from an email

Finally

Taken 2 years ago ...

[/size]

So the first pic from my cell is correct. All else that is not from my phone is correct... The boy and his family at church , taken with my cell is correct, but again not taken recently.

But the same year the last taken with my cell is on its side.

Totally crazy...................................

This picture below is an example of a picture taken in portrait mode, tall and narrow. If you want your pictures rotated you'll have to edit them on your computer before uploading them.

From the other version I couldn't tell what the contraption was on the pole, but I surmised it was a bird feeder with a squirrel guard.

Rella, do you sometimes hold your phone vertically and sometimes horizontally when taking pics with it?

Alan, is that your back yard in the pic? Very nice looking, if it is.

Interesting.  I randomly chose the bird-feeder one, saved a copy to my desktop, and opened it in IrfanView.  It automatically displayed properly -- i.e. rotated 90 degrees to upright.

So... um...  ::pondering::  ::shrug::

FWIW, I'm basically a luddite with a BSEE.  I have only land-line phones, no phone of any sort that can leave the house with me.  I don't have any kind of "pods" or "pads."  For music, CDs are still basically cutting edge for me.

So, for taking pictures, I got an actual camera.  Got it a few years ago, because cat guardians MUST have ways to record our furbabies.  Also allows me to take pix of the non-domesticated critters that stop by -- deer, possums, groundhogs, wild turkeys (they are a riot!), squirrels, various colorful birds at the feeders.

It's a Panasonic Lumix via Amazon.  I don't recall how much it cost, but I can't imagine it would have been very pricey.

No, that is from Rella's pictures above, it was the one that was sideways.

OK...

I have no clue how to do that, especially when it looks normal on the computer, and just point and shoot with the cell.

Thanks anyway... I just continue with a hit or miss.

My grandson doesn't get my use of CDs. He says "no one" still uses them.  ::noworries::

Until just about a year ago, I was still printing off mapquest directions online to use on trips instead of using the app on my phone. When my daughter saw some of the printed maps in my car, she said, "MOM?? Mapquest?? Really??"  ::noworries::

Rella, do you know how to take a screen shot? Occasionally, when I send a pic from my phone to my computer, it will be sideways. I just take a screen shot of it, then hit rotate on the bar at the top of the screen shot frame.

Oh, ok. For some reason, two of her pics aren't showing on my screen - just the tinypic emblem instead.

Yes, and it is displayed properly in the cell and in my computer. It is just when I went to post a snow picture here , in the weather thread that it turned.

The first two that I posted on here.. The trees with the leaves, then #2 snow. Taken the same way. Sent to the computer the same way.
One worked fine ad the other took a nap.........

The post of mommydi's right after this one.... She posted something that I took a pic of with my phone and tried to post in that 503error thread... (503?) and it went on its side. If she did a screen shot... that is another I cannot do.

Tried for a long time to learn how  ::frown::

It took me 2 1/2 years to learn how to use that insert feature on here... and then another 6 months to find out if you hit the space bar as soon as you click on that that it opens the middle space up to easlily drop what you are inserting.

I am just seemingly technically challenged or incredibly slow.

No matter... I might learn at some point... hopefully before I am dead  rofl
