A couple of years back, my wife spilt tea on the computer keyboard, and I had to buy a new one. Some time later, I found out that if you spill a sugary drink on a keyboard you can get it to work again by washing it - literally unplugging it, and then putting it in the bath and pouring water over it. You had to leave it to dry before you could plug it in again, but otherwise it was okay.
This worked when I had a problem with keyboard #2, but eventually that too failed, and I had to move onto #3. The other week a couple of the keys were a tad awkward so I washed it in the bath, but then it wouldn't work. I asked a neighbour who knows about computers, and he seemed astonished that anyone would wash a keyboard.
Anyway, I am now planning to get one of those roll-up mini keyboards, because you can spill as much as you like on them.
As a final point, I used to think that there was nothing you could do if you spilt a drink over the keyboard of a laptop, but then someone told me that some laptops have a lift-out keyboard which can be washed.
Does anyone have any experiences of washing keyboards?
