Title: Malicious Software
Post by: Bonnie on Sun Jan 24, 2010 - 11:03:43
My computer was attacked yesterday by what is called Worm.Win32.netsky.  It worked pretty fast while I was trying to read up on how to get rid of it. I don't know much about all this. My AVG always worked in the past then I realized this worm was immune to it.

Anyway, I'm using my husband's laptop now but I've lost access to my personal things.  I have changed my email address here on the forum so I can still receive replies while I'm using this.

Bottom line the worm has locked me out of my computer.  Is there a way to still save it?  I was going to buy Spyhunter but I wouldn't be able to install it.

Any suggestions?

What operating system are you working on? Windows XP I'm guessing. If you can still access safe mode, you can attempt to manually remove the virus. Since you know the name of the virus you can easily google that and get instructions how to remove it manually. If that still does not work, I suggest you bring it to a shop near you to have the hard drive backed up and cleaned of viruses so they can put Windows back in there.

Thanks for responding. Yes, it's XP. The worn has locked me out using my password protected page. I hadn't used that in years. We have a man who is going to try and retrieve my stuff. In the meantime it just sits here on the floor. It's about 10 years old and I think I'll try to get a new one.
