Thanks Bond, MS is quite insistent we move to 10 and has resorted to spam to get users to eventually cave in and upgrade. As I've said before, I use 10 and I rather like it but that does not mean everybody does or should be forced to use it.

Still some people that are just dealing on a day to day basis with the annoying pop up asking to upgrade, this is a helpful guide to get rid of the notification.

After the Windows update file has been removed and hidden you may also have the Win 10 installation files downloaded on your PC, you'll want to remove those also...

You also have to be diligent about checking what each update is for before allowing it to download & install. At least once a month Windows Update recommends that I install an update that "makes it easier to upgrade" to 10, even though every time I uncheck it and hide that update.

I am very careful with updates because I have old software that is vital to my business running on my Win7 machines. It won't work on 8 or 10. I can't afford to let Windows do me the "favor" of updating my OS.

It would be a good idea for you to check to see if MS has downloaded the Win 10 install files on your machine, if so delete them.
