Depends where, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has become the first Canadian city to top the one million mark for average home costs. Not a very good value unless you're making a family income of at least 200k. British Columbia is not far behind.

Just had to check out what a 4 bedroom house in Toronto could cost and it's IRO CDN$640k upwards getting closer to the town, whereas my 6 bedroom (formerly 4 bedroom) villa cost me 300,000 euros, but it's up in the sticks north-west of Mallorca and I did renos on it last year adding 2 more bedroom.

-Oh and to keep within Topic here, last year I bought myself a fine 15" little used ASUS N56VJ with a backlit keyboard and Bang & Olufsen audio. The laptop cost me 650 eur and it was near-pristine condition which was a bargain as it came in a hardwearing crushproof Pelican case. I added a DAC to improve its audio output and wired in self-amped studio monitors, so it's really lovely. Sometimes when TV is boring I'll hook the laptop up and play You Tube tracks on the telly. That's really fun and thrills my daughter Peggy!

200k per annum income?? That's really interesting as the current exchange rate of CDN$ to the Euro today currently equates to 132,200. My average earnings as an artisan jeweller is nudging 100k/ £90k / CDN$150k and I work no less than a 60 hour week!

It's my day off today. That's why I'm spamming busy on the forum!  rofl

I'm beginning to love it here

Well it depends on where in Ontario; in places such as Manitouwadge - in Northern Ontario - you can get a small house for about $30,000. Someone working from home and using postal/courier services can save a whole lot of money, really.

I heard property in Canada is quite good value, too. Same here in Mallorca. I've a friend living in New Brunswick who has a lovely apartment, but she wants a house now.

Yes, it can be, Depending on the place. Some areas are really, really good value. Buying to live in and buying to invest in are of course two very different sorts of property purchases.

These days there are so many Canadian property opportunities with details on the Web.

Since you mentioned that laptops are relatively inexpensive in Canada, are compact satellite hubs? Just asking because since my work takes me abroad, I'm tempted to buy an iSatHub and pre-pay for air time. Linked up with our VPN, that would be the ultimate in cyber-safe mobile communications especially where internet is so difficult or near-impossible. I'd type out the message on a document, copy + paste and linking up to the 'hub, send off within seconds. Cost? Oh, only about 10 cents.  ::cool::

Oh I see; I think you know a whole lot more than me about it (which for me is nothing...)

Not a lot actually. It's just that when having an itch, I have to scratch it. It's the only way to find out about 'anything computer'. Amazingly though, my daughter is even more internet savvy than me - and - oh so brand conscious!

I bought Peggy an iPad for her school work. She's homeschooled because of my travelling so her visiting tutors are well pleased because she works hard at her school subjects. It was her who found me that Asus, and I followed it up. Having such a bright child and one who knows our Lord is an asset.

Sounds like you are truly blessed, indeed...

And to think your daughter is already media savvy.

Yes, trusting the Lord at an early age is a tremendous start in life.

I love that Peggy gives witness to girls her age. And also I think she's going to be following me into jewellery when asking me to train her. Well, or course I am as have already begun teaching her, but most importantly is we pray together.

Think tomorrow I'm going to make a post about praying with one's kids in the parenting forum.

Sorry to have gone off-topic, staff.
