Which make do you like?

Dell? HP? Lenovo? Toshiba? or some unbranded one?

Any reason to need to look at anything higher then an i3 in inter?

And should I do am extended warranty or buy as cheap as possible so I can replace as needed?

Get a Chromebook.  Harder to screw up.  Less prone to viruses and user error.

2nd nod for a Chromebook, normally I would say to look for a machine with at least 8GB of RAM for smooth performance but with a Chromebook the OS itself uses much less resources. There won't be a million apps and processes running in the background and you don't need any anti-virus protection.

A machine with an i3 would be great but I see most of the Chromebooks are using N series Celeron processors which  should be fine with 4GB of RAM and an SSD drive.

If you see something of interest post a link.

I don't have a Chromebook but Chrome/Google itself is the application that syncs all of my devices. I would think that a Chromebook would have better ability to sync than my Surface.

How about printing with a chromebook?

This is Greek to me and I do a ton of printing, from websites to docs I write..... Is why I am with HP ink ready up to 300 pages a month for 9.99... free ink.

Why print all of these pages? Why not save them electronically to your drive and back the drive up periodically? Seems like a step backward from the technology you are using.

Why print all of these pages? Why not save them electronically to your drive and back the drive up periodically? Seems like a step backward from the technology you are using.

The web things printed are copies for assorted people that want/need/ enjoy things. Things like those I used to post on GC political and now only forward a small amount, therefore not printing so much cause I have stopped all email from people except for Huckabee and one ohter.

Or for our neighbor who has no computer or smart phone. And when she needs things looked up I do it and print it for her.

A lot of medical stuff for the docs... for mom and me.... as we add to the litany of our ills and take with us.... Copies of our meds
etc so we do not have to keep filling out all those papers...

Recipes.... manuels for whatever.... backup of my tax info for my accountant...

But the large majority has been the genealogy research and the printing of copies for personal records and putting things in order
and some copies for family members......

Why not save them electronically to your drive and back the drive up periodically?

Possibly I do not know how?

Gotta remember, if I could still use a rotary phone I would.

Seriously... I have backed up things before but that was a disaster.

That is one reason I do not keep files as you normal people do. I have learned to wrork within my perameters.

Remember... you probably don't.... I could not post a picture on here for close to 4 years.  Go ahead, laugh at me...

So I move everything into some email file.

I have...many various emails for different purposes.....

Then when one of these machines hiccups I can go to someone with one and access whatever I want.

NOT TO MENTION... Yes, I did mention syncing....

Not for me.... never worked with the wonderful "Google" So my email files now allow perfect syncing.

But one thing I can do.... I CAN PARALLEL PARK ~ perfectly. With ease.

The cloud isn't necessary for what Rella wants to do but even so, Google Drive (ex) is very easy to use and manage.

That is good.

But until I am down toone only laptop I am not rushing into anything.

The flashing on this screen is annoying but usable.

Until something levels out with China I will  struggle with my morning laptop stuff with it.

I have spent days looking for laptops and chromebooks not assembled in China.

Shows the stupidity of those people cause they could have Trump by the ____ if they use just these things as hostage

for dropping tarriffs I bet.

thanks anyway.

When I buy something I will let you know
