Open Office

Does anyone use this suite of programs?  If so, what do you think?  I like the suite with the exception of the power point imitation program.  The rest of it is fairly good.

Yes.  I use it on my Linux boxes, and on my wife's and kid's Windows computers, as I'm too cheap to pay Microsoft's prices.

In summary, version 2.0 works quite well for us.  The word processor and spreadsheet work great.  Even the presentation package seems to work fairly well, though I do little original authoring with it, and mostly use it to view exisiting Power Point slides; it's hugely improved in that respect over version 1.X.

In shore, OpenOffice doesn't do everything thing Microsoft Office does, but it does everything I need it to.

The one negative I've found is that it tends to open the first window very slowly.  Once that is open, additional windows open very quickly.

We used it in Atlanta, for the same reason that TWD does.  I liked it but I am using Microsoft on my PC and MAC, it is just, I can't believe that I am saying this, better.

I agree with Weeble that MS Office is better.  But, for me, only slightly so, and not enough to justify paying for it.  I use it on company computers, where it has already been purchased.  Otherwise, it's OO.

i use it and love it. i prefer it to MS office and find that the other features in MS office are of no use to me.   i would suggest it if you don't have to share too many complex documents or spreadsheets with MS office and if you need to do basic to moderate word processing.

One of the nice features is the built-in utility to make secure PDF files. No need for Adobe.
