Yahoo: Any suggestions?
« on: Wed Jan 28, 2009 - 21:24:20 »
My darling wife loves using yahoo [messenger, and its associated programs], and facebook (frequently). However, whenever these programs are installed on my computer I have problems with hanging [and I'd have to be the most impatient person in the world, when it comes to computers], particularly when in internet explorer. It can sometimes take me 6, 0r 7 tires to open my computer successfully, and usually over an hour; by which time I am ready to destroy all.

Can anything be done about the conflicts causing this?

Sounds like you have spyware.

Go to www.lavasoft.com and download Ad-Aware [free]. Run it and remove the spyware.

Next go to www.mozilla.com/firefox and download Firefox. Use it instead of internet explorer. Once you have it downloaded and installed check out the add-ons. Add Adblock Plus. When you use it, set it to allow ads at GCM. Lee pays for the site through the Google ads here and it doesn't put spyware on your computer. You may also have to disable it for a few other sites, but not many.

I know that sounds like a lot, but it will help keep your machine purring like a kitten.
