We are told to edify one another, to lift the hearer up with our words.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
KJV
 Which of the two do you suppose is the way the Word means?
1. To calm them with things pleasing to the ears so as to not cause them anymore anguish or chaos in their life?
OR
2. To strengthen them with the truth of God's Word, to help them lift UP their standards, to raise them up from the life of death unto life, to give them sight of God's truth so they no longer live blinded by the things corrupted of this world's errored ways?

2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.KJV

The Bible tells us that we are to rightly divide the Word. That first example in the OP is what this means.
The Word of God is a two edged sWord. One side is for the flesh eye and all men can see what it says pertaining to the fleshly understanding.
But the truth is the spiritual side which Jesus called having eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is telling us here.
Delight yourself in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
What did you see this say?
1.If you delight in the LORD He is going to give you everything your little heart desires?
Or
2. If you (really)Delight yourself in the LORD, then you will allow Him to give you the desires in your heart that you should have to please Him? THEN comes the manifestation of the material desires for you will have been tried and tested.

Solomon is the example of this. He desired the LORD'S justice for the good of the people, so God was able to give him wealth and riches as well.
Even thought in the end he defiled himself with woman, like Adam.

Always seek that spiritual food first, then you will receive the natural for God is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him.
