What dose it mean to be saved?
« on: Fri Feb 26, 2016 - 18:43:51 »
If I was to ask you, were you saved? Do you say “yes, I saved.” What are you saved from? Are you saved from lying? Are you saved from bad manners? And so spread the Lord’s gospel and shepherd the church. What dose it mean to be saved?

What dose it mean to be saved?
Let's ask Paul the question.

Paul said he was saved before the world began (2nd Timothy 1:9), when Jesus came into the world (1st Timothy 1:15), when the Spirit regenerated him (Titus 3:5), when he took heed to himself and the doctrine (1st Timothy 4:16), and would be saved sometime in the future (Romans 13:11).

Can you believe it? Paul clearly mentions"five different stages or phases of salvation". And this is the key to understanding our wonderful salvation in Jesus Christ.

To be "saved" means to be rescued.

We need rescued from this world and we need rescued from ourselves..

Only the Almighty can do that for us.

We are saved from the wages of sin, which is death.

At the point of our salvation, God begins to work in us, refining us and shaping us into His image more and more.

Thanks for your reply, But here's a question that has been troubling me for very long., my view on being saving means our sins are forgiven, But the Bible says,“……holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord……”,(Hebrews12:14)We are forgiven of our sins“ by faith,” but the sins still remain, living in the circle of sinning and confessing,a habitual sinner can we enter the kingdom of heaven? The Lord Jesus said, “Not every one that said to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that dose the will of Father which is in heaven.”(Mattew7:21)Could you share you understanding with me?

Apart from Christ, we are incapable of being holy.  However, the Word says that "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5:21

We are the righteousness of God when Christ is our savior.  We are saved from the wages of sin, which is death.  We live by faith, knowing that if we sin, we have an advocate on high with the Father, which is Christ Jesus (1 John 2:1); and a Father who is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(1 John 1:9)

We are saved, from God's wrath.

Every time we sin, we sin directly against God.

[Psa 51:4 KJV] 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.

And when we sin, we stack this wrath up against us. If we do not come to God, and repent of these sins, then His wrath will be shown to us. So that when he does judge us, then it's justified.
Other words, you can blame Him for you not repenting. He is justified in His judgment because He hates sin.

When we are Born Again, the Blood that Jesus shed, cleanses us or all unrighteousness.

If you continue to sin and live in this world and be part of it. You will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. That's scripture, not me.

If your Born Again and sin, which you will, then you have an advocate to the father, Jesus, who will defend you as one of His. Because you've been bought and paid for thru the Blood of Jesus.
Does this mean, you aught to continue sinning, NO. Because if you do, you then are no longer of God, but of the World. And you can't be of both. You are either God's or not.

The difference between one who is Born Again, and one who isn't. Is that those who are Born Again, may make a mistake, or slip up, or do something without thinking into sin.
Those who continue to live in sin, dive head first, they don't care what happens, they are living for the moment and for themselves. They wallow in their sins and enjoy doing so.

If other things you do, take you from reading God's word, praying, fellowship and witnessing for Christ. And you know that what you do is against the laws of God, then you might want to examine yourself. Ask God to open your heart and show you where you stand with Him.
Remember, you may say you know God, that doesn't matter....what does matter is...Does God know you?

[Mat 7:21-23 KJV] 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
