Title: Don't Feed The Wolf
Post by: ela on Tue Aug 09, 2011 - 14:43:55
An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life…He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil—he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego. The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too.

I've noticed that once the holy spirit grabs hold of a woman vs man, the woman seems to be less aggressive with it. There is a man on here that is full of the holy spirit too and his posts show a lot of aggressiveness in them. I don't think he is feeding the bad wolf, but I think this is why men in biblical times got into trouble as opposed to woman with the holy spirit.

I dont think that the Holy Spirit causes aggression. Passion maybe, but not aggression. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. If there is aggression then that is probably the flesh.

Jesus was perceived as a threat to the people that didn't understand the holy spirit and how it works. He was most likely seen as passionate to his followers, but the people that don't understand, see it as aggressive and threatening. Hence the comparison with women, they didn't get killed as a result of it because they weren't seen as threats because less aggression comes from women.

Please don't forget why Jesus was killed, he was a threat to the establishment that punished you for your sins.

Jesus wasnt aggressive, He was passionate but never aggressive. I have never seen a spirit filled man or women who appeared agressive.
In fact most of the godly men who I know are passionate for God, but also have great humility(which is from the Holy Spirit).

Jesus with the money changers?

I think that qualifies as aggressive behavior.

The holy spirit gives all, not just one character trait. That's nice that you have humble men around you, they seem well adjusted in society and non threatening to the people that they oppose in viewpoints. Very submissive for a man, I don't know any men like that myself. You are blessed to have all those godly men around you.

Enjoyed the devotional. Very good point.

I think when we get passionate, we all have a tendency to be aggressive at times in terms of standing up for what we believe. I can often be aggressive. But a constant state of agression is usually fueld by anger and should not be fed. Don't feed the bad wolf. Usually people who are aggressive are overcompensating for a lack of self-confidence.

Amen Supplanter...

I also think that we don't just stop feeding the bad wolf, but God asks that we step out in faith and feed the good...which is how the bible tells us is the way to starve the bad wolf ---> Gal. 5:16, 22-23. God does not ask us to understand this and other requests, but He does ask us to believe that He knows what He is doing.

How do we starve the darkness? It does not work to curse the darkness or to rebuke it so it will go away...no, to starve the darkness we turn on the light.

Jesus understood this premise very well...that where (in us and others) there is self-centeredness we quelch it by doing the opposite...by love, which is being a servant. Were there is darkness, we bring in the light. We step out in faith and the Holy Spirit provides the power to accomplish His will. Where there is fear -> love. Where there is....
