We obey the word of God out of a sincere love for God. If we do what God says we bear witness of his love. The word of God is more precious than silver or gold. The word of God is the Spirit of God. So, we love God has much as we love his Word.
Jesus says to his disciples the Father will give you “another Comforter”. Jesus was a very special comfort to the disciples; in the face of every circumstance they knew that Jesus would be the answer. John 14:16 is a conversation of Jesus with his disciples in an effort to prepare them for his departure. Jesus says to his disciples that the Comforter will remain with you forever.
The Comforter is also called the Spirit of truth. The Comforter is God who not only comes to be with us but he is God within us. He is the ever abiding presence of God to aid the believer in wisdom and knowledge for every good work; just as the disciples turn to Jesus for everything, we to wait upon the spirit to lead us into all truth, to take full control of our lives.
The Holy Spirit is a great source of comfort to every believer. Jesus was about to leave his disciples and at the same time he says “I will come to you”. Jesus would forever abide with his disciples in the person of the Holy Spirit. Jesus offered himself up on a cross that we might receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. By this experience we can know God in a personal relationship that creates in every believer the glory and power of God.
