The word of God is quick. We find this description of the word of God in the book of Hebrews 4:12. This is a Greek word that means alive. The word of God is also the breath of God. “God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7. As we read and study the word of God we are partaking of eternal life. What Adam had through the living word of God is restored back to man by Christ the Lord, the living word.
Hebrews 4:12 is a picture of Christ the living word. The living word is all powerful. When God created the heavens and the earth and all that dwells therein, it was done by speaking his word. Jesus cast out devils and healed all that were sick by speaking his word, Matthew 8:16. The Centurion of Matthew 8:9 said to Jesus, speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Anyone who receives the words of Jesus receives power; the word of God is power to become whatever God says you can be.
The Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword. It is sharp enough to pierce through any lie and reveal what is true. The word is the sword of the Spirit the only weapon with piercing power to defeat satanic darkness. The word of God is sharp to pierce through the stony heart and bring a man to true repentance.
We can know the power and glory of the word of God by daily seeking his word. We must commit to the study of God’s word because our thoughts are not the thoughts of God nor our ways the way of God, Isaiah 55:8. To become spiritual we must be transformed by the renewing of the mind in the word of God, Romans 12:2. This is how we feed the inner man by feeding on the word of God we grow in the Spirit. Whatever a person feeds the mind that person will become. Only by feeding upon the word of God we are transformed by the Spirit into the image of God.
The word of God is the seed that is planted into the heart. This seed is the power to transform one’s life, John 6:63. If you make it a habit to daily study and practice the word of God, than whatever you do will prosper, Psalms 1:2-3. There is power in the word of God to cause whatever God says to happen in your season. There is no failure in the word of God, though it tarries, wait for it, Habakkuk 2:3.
Transformation is a day to day process as you put into practice the things that you study in the word of God. Through this process the mind is made new. Before there can ever be a change in behavior there must be a change in the way we think. Every action can be traced back to a thought. As we fill our lives with the word of the spirit transformation will happen in every area of life.
The Spirit of the word is power to know the will of God, Romans 12:2. God is not asking anyone to change based on human ability. It is the work of the Spirit of God to transform life. As we focus on the Word of God we receive power to become the Sons of God.
