Trust and Obey

The children of Israel are commanded by the word of God to pass over Jordan, to go in and possess great cities. The Children of Israel had received a great promise of God’s protection. By faith Israel would act upon the word of God by passing through the Jordan River into the land of promise. The word of God would perform this great victory, which is a promise that was given to Abraham – But not without their faith being tried.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The land was filled with great giants of many different Nations. God commanded Israel to go in the midst of these great people and possess the land. Has they would obey the word of God. God would go in before them like a consuming fire and destroy the inhabitance.
The judgment of God was against the ungodly inhabitance of Canaan.  God would make it possible for Israel to drive out the Giants and bring them down in destruction.  This victory would not come because of Israel’s righteousness but because of the covenant given to Abraham and his descents. God would prove himself to be faithful in performing his word. Even in the mist of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God, the Lord would bring to pass his covenant.
The Old Testament covenant is a call of God to a chosen people. The New Testament covenant is the call of God by the blood of Christ to all people. The Cross is the beginning of the new and the end of the old dispensation. If we are to experience the benefits of the promises of the New Testament Covenant, than we must answer to the call of God to trust and obey.
Don’t let fear keep you from doing God’s will. By practicing the word of God fear can be conquered. Faith is an active response to the word of God. By faith the power of the word will perform the will of God within and be with you in all things. The peace of God will rule and guide you through every crisis. Trust in his everlasting love. Obey his unfailing truth.
If we yield ourselves to the divine purpose of God, he will perform every promise by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can know the Resurrection Power and Glory of Jesus. Like the Children of Israel, we can overcome our fears by trusting and obeying the unfailing word of God.
