It is true the Signs our Lord Jesus gave in His Olivet discourse are about the signs leading up to His return for the last generation. I believe that generation has already started.
The idea of 'many' coming claiming to be Christ per Matt.24:5 is about the "many antichrists" of 1 John 2:18. But the Matt.24:23-26 section of Scripture is specifically about a singular Antichrist that's to come, and will work great signs and wonders that IF possible, would deceive even Christ's very elect.
The KJV phrase "false Christs" is the Greek word pseudochristos, made up of 2 Greek words, pseudo which mean false, and Christos which means singular Christ. Because that warning is given within the context of the Matt.24:23-26 subject, which is actually about a singular false-Messiah (Christ) that will actually work great signs and wonders to deceive, it means our Lord was pointing directly to a single supernatural fake-Messiah, and not many who just claim to be Christ. This is no doubt why Dr. James Strong in his Strong's Exhaustive Concordance defined Greek pseudochristos as "a spurious Messiah" (Strong's no. 5580).
Apostle Paul showed us about this false-Messiah in 2 Thessalonians 2:4, revealing that he will exalt himself as God, over all that is called God, or that is worshiped, and doing signs and lying wonders.
Apostle John was also shown about this coming spurious Messiah in Revelation 13:11 forward, one who has two horns appearing like a lamb (Jesus), but who will speak as a dragon (another title for Satan). It says he will rain fire down to the earth from heaven in the sight of men, and will work miracles to deceive the whole world. That is not just some Moonie declaring they are Christ!
So we have already had many that have come claiming to be Jesus today. But they did not work those great signs and wonders our Lord Jesus forewarned us about, and that's the difference in watching. Apostle Paul showed that spurious Messiah will sit in the "temple of God", which is used as a reference for a future Jewish temple built for the end of this world during the coming tribulation. The children of darkness are doing all they can to hide this coming event in Jerusalem. It is a test to see who will actually listen to our Lord Jesus in His Word to be watching these events so as to not be deceived, and that's why the children of darkness are here to test us with trying to make us confused away from the Scriptures about this matter.
This is a doctrine taught by "Many" who come in Christ's Name. But We are to take heed we are not deceived by religious men.
As far as signs and wonders, we have a religion of the land that created an image of God in the likeness of some handsome longhaired men's hair shampoo model, and has convinced the entire world that this image is Christ, when we both know it is not. I find that quite spectacular especially given that the Christ commanded we not partake in such behavior in the first of His Ten Commandments.
The entire world has been convinced to reject the Feast's of the Christ in favor of ancient pagan festivals introduced into "Christianity", in Christ's Name, by a known Sun Worshipper some 350 years after the Christ ascended. Man made "Feast's unto the Lord" that Israel was punished for creating. Talk about signs and wonders.
What a perfect deception. Convincing through philosophy of religious men, that we are waiting for a deception that has already occurred.
If we were to actually listen to the Word's of the Lord, we would take heed of listening to those who claim to "unlock" the Biblical Prophesies of the future that even He was not allowed to know. If we listened to Him, we would worry about this day and the sin that so easily besets us today, because death comes as a thief in the night.
I believe this is why Jesus said:
Matt. 18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences!
for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
Matt. 24:42 Watch therefore:
for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready:
for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
John 7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come:
but your time is alway ready.Matt. 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees (Mainstream Preachers of Jesus' time) answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Luke 12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him,
Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
It is foolishness to spend so much time in "Unlocking" the future that Jesus said even He wasn't given the key to understanding.
Matt. 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
These are the Lord's Words as well. Shall we not listen to them?
