2012??
« on: January 04, 2010, 02:16:37 AM »
What do you all believe about 2012?

On the one hand, Israel is once again rising to prominence, as are all the middle Eastern nations of biblical importance (or their present-day equivalents); as my sister's boyfriend said, people are going to and fro, information is speeding up etc... and apparently the Mayan calendar ends in December of that year. Apparently the earth will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way and oh boy crazy stuff is bound to happen.

Then again.... The Lord said NO ONE (not even the Mayans) knoweth the day nor the hour.
Deut 4:29-31 "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all of your heart and soul. When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the LORD your God and obey His voice (for the LORD your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of our fathers which He swore to them.

Gal 2:20 "I have been crucified with CHRIST and it is no longer I WHO LIVE but CHRIST LIVES IN ME, and this life I live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Here is an article that i dug up.....I think it makes sence....but there isnt anything that we can do about it....

March 10, 2006: It's official: Solar minimum has arrived. Sunspots have all but vanished. Solar flares are nonexistent. The sun is utterly quiet.

Like the quiet before a storm.

This week researchers announced that a storm is coming--the most intense solar maximum in fifty years. The prediction comes from a team led by Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). "The next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one," she says. If correct, the years ahead could produce a burst of solar activity second only to the historic Solar Max of 1958.

above: Intense auroras over Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1958.

That was a solar maximum. The Space Age was just beginning: Sputnik was launched in Oct. 1957 and Explorer 1 (the first US satellite) in Jan. 1958. In 1958 you couldn't tell that a solar storm was underway by looking at the bars on your cell phone; cell phones didn't exist. Even so, people knew something big was happening when Northern Lights were sighted three times in Mexico. A similar maximum now would be noticed by its effect on cell phones, GPS, weather satellites and many other modern technologies.

Dikpati's prediction is unprecedented. In nearly-two centuries since the 11-year sunspot cycle was discovered, scientists have struggled to predict the size of future maxima—and failed. Solar maxima can be intense, as in 1958, or barely detectable, as in 1805, obeying no obvious pattern.

The key to the mystery, Dikpati realized years ago, is a conveyor belt on the sun.

We have something similar here on Earth—the Great Ocean Conveyor Belt, popularized in the sci-fi movie The Day After Tomorrow. It is a network of currents that carry water and heat from ocean to ocean--see the diagram below. In the movie, the Conveyor Belt stopped and threw the world's weather into chaos.

above:Earth's "Great Ocean Conveyor Belt

The sun's conveyor belt is a current, not of water, but of electrically-conducting gas. It flows in a loop from the sun's equator to the poles and back again. Just as the Great Ocean Conveyor Belt controls weather on Earth, this solar conveyor belt controls weather on the sun. Specifically, it controls the sunspot cycle.

Solar physicist David Hathaway of the National Space Science & Technology Center (NSSTC) explains: "First, remember what sunspots are--tangled knots of magnetism generated by the sun's inner dynamo. A typical sunspot exists for just a few weeks. Then it decays, leaving behind a 'corpse' of weak magnetic fields."

Enter the conveyor belt.

Above: The sun's "great conveyor belt."

"The top of the conveyor belt skims the surface of the sun, sweeping up the magnetic fields of old, dead sunspots. The 'corpses' are dragged down at the poles to a depth of 200,000 km where the sun's magnetic dynamo can amplify them. Once the corpses (magnetic knots) are reincarnated (amplified), they become buoyant and float back to the surface." Presto—new sunspots!

All this happens with massive slowness. "It takes about 40 years for the belt to complete one loop," says Hathaway. The speed varies "anywhere from a 50-year pace (slow) to a 30-year pace (fast)."

When the belt is turning "fast," it means that lots of magnetic fields are being swept up, and that a future sunspot cycle is going to be intense. This is a basis for forecasting: "The belt was turning fast in 1986-1996," says Hathaway. "Old magnetic fields swept up then should re-appear as big sunspots in 2010-2011."

Like most experts in the field, Hathaway has confidence in the conveyor belt model and agrees with Dikpati that the next solar maximum should be a doozy. But he disagrees with one point. Dikpati's forecast puts Solar Max at 2012. Hathaway believes it will arrive sooner, in 2010 or 2011.

"History shows that big sunspot cycles 'ramp up' faster than small ones," he says. "I expect to see the first sunspots of the next cycle appear in late 2006 or 2007—and Solar Max to be underway by 2010 or 2011."

That was all very nice and long.

I believe that Jesus will return in fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets and the year of Jubilee. This will have the next possibility on Sept 14, 2015. If this is the "Acceptable Year" then the rise of the antichrist would be April 6, 2012.

I don't know about 2012 being the year or not, but it's always wise to try to take precautions, in at all possible, in case it is.

Well it's a good bet science or God is wrong. I would put my money on God not being wrong. This 2012 stuff is getting out of hand. Even the Mayans themselves, the ones that are living today say that it was not intended to be an end time event. Just like that comet, I forgot the name that was suppose to according to the Mayans crash into earth it never happened. There have been 220 failed end time predictions since 46 AD and none have happened the record speaks for itself. Jesus says no man knows the time or day, guess what none do cause none have gotten it right.....

I believe that Jesus said no one knows the day, hour, minute, or second of the end of this world before His 2nd physical coming. Not even the angels in heaven knows. Only the Father knows. ::smile::

In the meantime, I'm going to trust Him for me to be ready when He comes.  ::crackup::

Sorry, miss quote and wrong interpretation.

Mt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only.

This was the answer of Jesus to the question of the end of the world. Not the second coming.

Mt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

As I understand it, the world continues for at least another millennium and no one knows for sure how long after that.

Re 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshiped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

2pe 3:12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Peter here also spoke of the dissolution of the universe not the second coming.

The eighth day, eternal day begins after the kingdom reign of Christ, somewhere in that eternity God has chosen to dissolve the universe as we know it and do something more spectacular.

1co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

That's strange!

I must have missed it 12 years ago, or 24 years ago or 36 years ago.

Stuck we are being discourteous, to the author of this Thread.

This thread is about 2012, not about Jesus or GOD.

I dont mind at all reasoning with you but then we must start our own thread then you and I can talk about anything.

This would only be fair to the others.

Dont you think. We must always be mindful of others.
