The Antichrist (the coming false messiah)
« on: Sat Apr 18, 2020 - 18:33:27 »
EDIT: After further research I have concluded that I need to do even further research on the man of sin/son of perdition spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 as I am not entirely sure whether he truly is a single man or really just a succession of men or a mass movement (group). We all need to thoroughly research the word of God, the Holy Bible, and let God lead us.

2 Thessalonians 2:3
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"

1 John 2:18
"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even
now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."

The Antichrist is also known as:
son of perdition
man of sin
false messiah (this is not used in scripture but is what I call him)

"The Antichrist will be a man so wicked that, bad as other men are, wickedness should be his mark by
which he is distinguished from all others; a man who belongs to sin, in whom the ideal of sin has
become realised and incarnate. What kind of sin will be most prominent in him is not expressed in the
word itself; but the context points clearly to that which is, in fact, the crowning sin-spiritual pride
and rebellious arrogancy." -Ellicott commentary on 2 Thessalonians 2:3

The title "Man of Sin" excludes Satan, as Chrysostom remarks: Satan acts through the man to the full
extent of his power-"enters into him," as he entered into an earlier "Son of Perdition"-but
does not destroy his humanity.

2 Thessalonians 2:9
"even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,"

He will come to deceive the world that he is the messiah. He will be very charismatic to the unlearned eye.
Those that do not strictly follow Christ will not be able to distinguish between the spirit of the world (the Devil)
and the spirit of Christ. He will be able to perform miracles just as Jesus did, but it will be from Satan not God.

2 Thessalonians 2:4
"who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

Many Christians have mistakenly took the above scripture as the false messiah sitting
in a literal rebuilt temple.

"Though the image is drawn from the Jewish temple, we may say with some confidence that St. Paul
did not expect the Antichrist as a prose fact to take his seat in that edifice. Neither is the
metaphor to be pressed into a mere synonym of "the Church". The words, so far
need not necessarily mean that the Man of Sin will make special claims upon the Christian
community as such. Rather, the whole phrase, "taking his seat in the temple of God," is a poetical
or prophetical description of usurping divine prerogatives generally: not the prerogatives of the
true God alone, but whatever prerogatives have been offered to anything "called God." Though
the prophecy might be fulfilled without any symbolical act (e.g., of assuming any material throne),
yet the spontaneousness ("himself") and the openness ("showing himself") seem so essentially parts
of the prophecy as of necessity to imply that the Man of Sin will make formal claim to occupy
that central seat in men's minds and aspirations which is acknowledged to be due to God alone.
The formal making of this claim seems to be identical with the apocalypse of the Man of Sin,
the act by which he is manifested or revealed." - Ellicott commentary on 2 Thessalonians 2:4

Religions around the world are awaiting the arrival of their messiah.
Jews await the messiah. Even though He already came.
Buddhists await Maitreya.
Hindus await Kalki.
Muslims await Mahdi.
Taoists await Li Hong.
Zoroastrianists await Saoshyant.
And there are other false spiritual paths/religions that really just worship fallen angels (demons)
who also are expecting a messiah. They will all receive the Antichrist and one world religion gladly.

Even Christians await the return of Jesus Christ, the true messiah. But only true Christians that
read and study the word of God as if their lives depend on it, because it does, know that the
false messiah, the Antichrist must be revealed first to deceive the world that he is the
messiah, that he is God. Just as 2 Thessalonians 2:3 tells us.

This deception of the Antichrist that will deceive most of the world into believing that he is
the true messiah, that he is God. This may be part of the falling away spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3.
Hypocritical Christians who do not walk in true obedience and faith with Jesus Christ and
Father Jehovah will be deceived by the Antichrist, and fall away.

This deception of the Antichrist may also be related to the delusion spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:11.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"

I believe we are fast approaching these end time events that must happen before the return of
Jesus Christ. I believe we are only a short space away
from planned events to bring these prophecies to fruition.

The AC will be one man, as his sidekick the false prophet will be. I believe we had his forerunners in Napoleon and Hitler.

Hitler almost certainly had a demon, which left him when France fell. We see that, after his failed "Beer Hall Putsch", almost everything he did "turned to gold". He was able to verbally bully the leaders of France & England, and have military success til france fell. Then, on his own, he rapidly spiraled downhill.

The AC won't simply be indwelt by a demon; it'ss be Satan himself. He will be the greatest orator ever, extremely charismatic, almost-universally admired, & will broker a deal which will cause Israel & her enemies to disarm, making Israel "a land of unwalled villages".  When the rapture occurs, he will have an explanation for the disappearance of millions, that the world will believe.

And I believe he will "come outta nowhere" as Napoleon and Hitler did, completely unknown to the world until he starts gaining popularity & power. And, like Hitler, he won't become ruthless until he has gained power & stifled most opposition. And, after the rapture, opposition will be almost-nil, except for some "trib saints" who will realize the rapture has occurred.

We don't know how old he will be when he begins to come to power, but he'll be very-charismatic, admired by people of almost all faiths. I believe he will be fairly-young when he starts, but I don't know if his age will parallel that of Jesus or not, that is, starting his "ministry" at age 30.

I believe his popularity will be hugely boosted when he brokers a deal between Israel & her Moslem enemies, seemingly defusing that part of the world, ro the relief of billions.

Sir, you are one confused person on this subject. The man of sin had his forerunner beginning with Cain!
Quote
1st John 3:12~"Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."
Cain's generation are the man of sin, the spirit of antichrist. The mystery of iniquity has been in the world since the fall of man and begins to show itself when Cain killed his righteous brother Abel~and why did he kill him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous~the very same reason why are the righteous hated by the sons of perdition in our day. One keeps the word of God while the others changed it to fit their wicked lifestyles. Change the word of God to fit their corrupt doctrines, etc.

You have been duped and do not see that you have.

My, MY ! What a bunch of fiction we have here ! Cain's line ended at the flood, if it lasted that long. How can you say it continued without YOU attempting to change God's word ?

There has been no lack of evil people since a coupla generations after Noah. But one coming one will be so evil that Satan himself will indwell him. That man will be the beast/antichrist mentioned by Daniel, Paul, & the angel of the Revelation. And all those Scriptures mention only ONE MAN til revelation, which prophesies an evil false prophet who will be the main man's deputy.

Have you never heard of Ham? He was a man of sin~in other words: MAN of sin....man OF SIN~a man that lives under the power of SIN! That would be all outside of the generation of the righteous!

I would love to debate you one on one concerning the man of sin, that's prophesied to come~that is....IN GREAT NUMBERS just before the coming of Jesus Christ. I'll start the debate in a separate thread just for me and you if you would come.

I don't know how anyone could even remotely... interpret that Apostle Paul was speaking in the plural with the "man of sin" he said must be revealed playing God sitting in the temple of God (in Jerusalem).
2 Thess 2:4
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
KJV

It's impossible to get a mass of people out of that! Attempts to make that into the plural is just more proof of those who are against what Paul revealed there, the same ones who distorted Christ's coming among the Thessalonians, and there in 2 Thess.2 he was having to repeat what he taught about Christ's coming and gathering of the Church.

2 Thess 2:9
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
KJV

Those "signs and lying wonders" that false one will work in Jerusalem, sitting in the temple of God (a rebuilt Jewish temple for the end), is the same warning Jesus gave in His Olivet discourse about the pseudo-Christ that would almost deceive His very elect by the great signs and wonders he is to work...
Matt 24:24
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
KJV

The KJV phrase "false Christs" is the Greek word pseudochristos, made up of two Greek words: pseudo which means false, and christos which means Christ, singular. For this reason Dr. James Strong in his Strong's Exhaustive Concordance translated it as 'a spurious Messiah', in the singular. The Matthew 24:23-26 context is in the singular. THUS JESUS WAS WARNING OF A SPECIFIC FALSE MESSIAH, not many.
In Revelation 13:11-14, we are given the same kind of warning about a false one coming working those signs and miracles to deceive the whole world with. It is for the end of this world. And men's theories of Preterism is trying to scratch all that.

I think the man of sin is limited to a person or persons who can sit in the temple of God. That narrow's the search down considerably, down to the individual himself. Now the only question is, does this refer to all unsaved people or one single unsaved individual.

Since any unsaved person fits the description of the man of sin and we all know that, it doesn't make sense that the context of 2 Th 2 is the second coming of Christ but rather the context is the day an unbeliever realizes that he's a sinner and relinquishes control of his life to God and Christ comes to live in their hearts.
