MYSTERY BABYLON

Any thoughts supported by scriptures? It was only a mystery in the Old Testament, but by the time one is finished with Revelation 18, that mystery of Babylon can be understood by God's children and them alone.

  The "mystery, Babylon" religion was started by Semiramis & Nimrod under other names, of course, as Babylon didn't then exist. It continued on under other names, & is still around today.
  Many of its original beliefs & doctrines live on. "Queena hevvin", with Mary replacing Semiramis, prayers to the dead, indulgences, belief in purgatory, its big kahoona wearing mitres that resemble those seen on Dagon, the Philistine fish god, celibacy for its clergy.

The "woman" we are told in the last verse of Rev.17 is a "great city".

That means forget trying to apply any idea to it meaning a false religion, or spiritual movement. It is a certain city on earth.

The "woman" sits on a scarlet colored beast that has seven heads and ten horns. The ten horns are ten kings, and the seven heads are seven mountains, pointing to areas on the earth, not hills. It is pointing to the world beast kingdom described in Revelation 13 which the dragon is to have power over involving all nations and peoples on earth. Rev.17:1 tells us the "great whore", which is also a symbol for this "woman", sits also upon "many waters", and in Rev.17:15 we are told those waters represent peoples, tongues, multitudes, and nations.

Thus the "woman" is a certain city on earth that is the headquarters over the whole one-world kingdom beast system which is to cover all nations and peoples.


It will be JERUSALEM.

Jerusalem is where God Himself called her a harlot for playing the harlot against Him with pagan gods which are no gods, as per Ezekiel 16.

Jerusalem is where God has chosen to dwell forever.

Jerusalem is where Satan wants because he wants to be God.

Jerusalem is where the nations will surround so God will pour out His cup of indignation upon them, as written in Zephaniah 3. God is going to show the whole world Who He is, and how He will not allow Satan to destroy Jerusalem once Satan understands he cannot have it.

Winsome, I know history, enough of it, but I do know BIBLICAL HISTORY~which is all I need to know to know the truth of Revelation 17~the religious sector of Mystery Babylon, and Revelation 18 that deals with the commerce and entertainments sectors of MYSTERY Babylon, and a mystery still hidden somewhat from you.

Let me add this: The understanding that I see clearly taught in the holy scriptures is that the religious sector of Babylon is by no means limited to your family of worshippers (which many folks believe that it is, but I do not, for many reasons) or the EOC, Jehovah Witnesses, Pentecostals, Baptist, Church of God with all of its branches, Mormonism, YES, even the SDA that wants to desperately point the finger to your family~ the RCC, yet there's fingers pointing to them as well.  Oh, I left off a hundred more that could have been mention. Most of God's children have been part of these cults at some part of their life, but most, NOT ALL have come out of them~sad to say, some may never do so, which by failure to do so will limit their practical salvation in many areas. I do not believe for one second that within some of these cults that there are true children of God~JW, Mormons, and a few others extreme cults, others without question there are some of God's children.

So, give me TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD OF GOD, over bias men who write history IN FAVOR of their desire beliefs~God's word does not do that~the scriptures records faithfully the sins of GREAT MEN~ God's chosen nation (the very elect) and we can 100% trust what is written by holy men who were moved by the Holy Ghost, not history written in almost all cases by sinful men desiring to serve their own purpose or the purpose of men in power so that it can make room FOR THEM~like MAYBE Josephus did, but I cannot prove that but it seems as though HE DID ~besides, I really do not care, it serves no biblical profit in wasting precious time reading about uninspired men~truths in the scriptures will never be fully understood by NO MAN, so why waste our time in seeking truth OUTSIDE OF THEM.

So, if that is your take on what I said...so be it.  I have learned a great deal from men of the past beginning with Augustine~to Martin Luther, (I THINK you know him well!) to Calvin, to Samuel Richardson, and "many" in-between them, to A.W. Pink, and after him...... not very much.
