The 4th kingdom, the legs of iron
« on: Fri Aug 03, 2018 - 20:18:03 »
The 4th kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar’s image:

Before anyone begins their study of end time prophesy, you had better get your timeline right. If you don't you'll be lost in the maze of confusion. I have already posted the timeline of the head of gold, the chest and arms of silver, and the belly and legs of brass, go back and study it. So here's the timeline for the legs of iron. The following is just a part of the 4th beast, do the feet and toes of iron and clay later.

Daniel 2:3, “His legs of iron.” In the last post we left off with the Greek Empire that ended in the year 68 B.C. The Greek Empire begins with Alexander the Great, he is represented by the belly of brass shortly after his victories, he died an untimely death. Now his 4 generals would grow in strength and authority. Of the four, 2 prevailed, one in the North, king Selencus 1 Nictor, the other in the South, king Ptolemy. So, from the belly of brass (Alexander) there would be a division in the empire, this represented by the two thighs of brass, the Seleucid Empire, and Ptolemy’s empire ruled from Egypt.

Daniel’s image does not mention the knees which I feel would represent the transition that took place between Greece and Rome. This is referred to as the Greco-Roman period. The Greco-Roman world would directly affect and influence the Greek language, the culture, government and religion.

Rome’s timeline:
1.   Jerusalem taken by Pompey, 63 B.C.
2.   Herod repairs Temple 19 B.C.
3.   John the Baptist born 4 B.C. 6 months before Jesus.
4.   Herod the Great dies in 4 B.C.
5.   Jesus born between Oct.15th to the 30th of 4 B.C.
6.   Jesus at the age of 12 reads in the temple about 8 A.D.
7.   Jesus is Baptized by John and Holy Spirit in Oct of 26 A.D.
8.   Jesus dies at 3 in the afternoon, the ninth hour on April 5, 30 A.D., the day before Passover. He was taken down from the cross before 6 in the evening.
“Deuteronomy 21:23, “And thou hang him on a tree: his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall in any wise bury him THAT day; ----- that your land be not defiled---.”
John 19:31, “The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation (for the Sabbath, for it was Passover week); that the Lord’s body should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day ---.”
9.   Augustus (Latin: Imperātor Casear Dīvī Fīlius Augustus; born 9/23 63 B.C. Died August 19, 14 A.D. Augustus was the founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD.
10.   Tiberius Caesar the stepson of Augustus Caesar co-ruled with Augustus for three years, beginning in 11 A.D. until Augustus’s death in 14 A.D.  From 14 A.D. forward, he ruled alone.
11.   Titus was born 12/30/39 A.D., died 9/13/81 A.D.
12.   Stephen was stoned about 33 or 34 A.D.
13.   Saul (Paul) had his Damascus road experience at the same time Stephen was stoned.
14.   Paul begins his ministry in 37 A.D., after spending 3 years in the desert.
15.   Nero was born on 12/18/37: reigned from 10/13;34 until 6/9/68 A.D.
16.   Peter was put to death in 68 A.D., this, before the temple was destroyed.
17.   The Roman’s destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem in 70 A.D., killing over a million Jews, and carrying 100,000 into captivity.
18.   John the apostle is sent to the island of Patmos where he writes the book of Revelation around the years 95 or 96 A.D.
19.   The Roman Empire had grown to large to be ruled from one place, Rome. So, a second capital, it also like Rome was built on 7 hills, was established at Constantinople.
20.   Constantine the Great was born in 272 A.D., died 337 A.D. He called the Council of Nicaea together in 325 A.D.
21.   At this council the doctrine of Arianism took a strong foothold, eventually spreading to many areas of the empire, especially at Constantinople.
22.   Diocletian was born in 284 A.D. to 305 A.D.

Rome was not built in a day," neither did Rome fall in a day. The fall was gradual and came from both without and from within. Soon, the Barbarian hordes would begin to pour over their outer boundaries.

Sixty years after the founding of Constantinople, emperor Theodosius died, leaving two young sons, Arcadius the elder took Constantinople for his capital ruling over the Eastern Empire, and Honorius at the age of eleven became ruler of the Western empire with Rome as his capital.

Rome would eventually fall under the full force of the barbarian tribes. From Germany came the Goths, then the Ostrogoths, all were lawless, greedy and treacherous.  Under king Alaric, the Visigoths attacked the empire over and over again. Twice they laid siege to Rome, and twice he spared the city. Still a third time he came, and this time he sacked and plundered Rome without mercy. He took many into captivity, as this once proud city bowed before him.

Other barbarians would attack Roman outposts, the Picts and Scots; the Franks, Burgundians, Lombard’s, Alemanni, and Vandals.

But eventually some of would settle the land. Soon another beast would raise its blood thirsty head, that man, Attila the Hun. With great fury, his hoards swept across the plains toward Rome, and the people fled before him.

Atilla said, “I am the curse of God, the hammer of the world, where my horse’s hoofs have trod the grass will grow no more.”

Eventually the Goths and the Romans would march together against Atilla. Their battles were many, but eventually the Huns would be set back. Yet Atilla would make future attempts to defeat Rome. It was at this time Atilla would be met by pope, Leo 1st.

As the historians described the meeting, “Upon the banks of the River Mincio, the misshapen heathen (Atilla) met the priest of God. Upon the one side there was religion and knowledge and everything that stood for civilization, discipline, and lofty aims. Upon the other there was ignorance, license, and a lusting for blood.”

Was it the solemn words and pleading that softened Atilla’s heart, or was it the gold brought as a bribe? Atilla soon departed saying, "I can conquer men, but the Lion (Leo) knows how to conquer me."

Soon after this historic meeting by Leo and Atilla, we read of the enormous growth in power, wealth and authority of the Catholic church. It would soon become entangled in the affairs of many nations.  Secular Rome lasted some 426 years, falling in 476 A.D. Its demise plunged the western world into what is known as the dark ages. Yet the church would persist in both Rome and Constantinople.

Next, the feet of the 4th beast whose feet and toes are described as being of iron mixed with clay. A period when the gospel of Jesus Christ, and his authority would be high-jacked by those who had vowed to protect it.

The feet of mingled iron and clay suggest a global organization similar to a confederacy.    A confederacy is a loose union of sovereign states which give part of their power to the whole.   In some cases this includes military support as well as nodding affirmation of limited legislation and financial resources.

The UNITED NATIONS fits the description of a global organization along the lines of a confederacy.

There has been no such global alliance in human history and the existence of it must be considered with regard to interpretations of international and historic events.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck chances are its a duck.

And I very much agree that the 20th-21st century United Nations represents the strongest evidence towards the future Revelation 13 beast kingdom of ten horns, seven heads, and ten crowns. I do not believe the U.N. will be the actual beast kingdom, but the main tool behind establishing the coming one-world beast kingdom over all the earth. Their object is to mimic Christ's future kingdom over all nations.

The Daniel 2 beast statue of 5 pieces most easily describes this final one-world globalist structure for the very end of this world. Preterists keep going around in circles with a 4th beast kingdom and preached prophecy fulfilled back in history when they can't see the forest (Dan.2 passage below) for the trees:

Dan 2:31-35
31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
KJV

The beast image has 5 pieces, not 4. The head of gold is topmost, then the breast and arms of silver, then the belly and thighs of brass, then the legs of iron, and then the feet of ten toes of mixed clay and iron. That's 5 pieces. Note that all those 5 pieces are "together" when the Stone (Jesus) comes to smite the feet and the whole together comes tumbling down.

1. head of gold = Babylon
2. breasts and arms = Medo/Persia
3. belly and thighs of brass = Grecia
4. legs of iron = pagan Rome
5. Question? = final one-world beast kingdom under the Antichrist

Because we are told there in Dan.2 the Stone cut without hands (our Lord Jesus), will smite the beast statue upon its feet and all the 5 pieces come tumbling down, that makes the timing for that being at the very end of this world emphatic.

dpr, I'm adding to your list: # 5. The Holy Roman empire lives in the Popes of the Catholic church, representing over 1 .4 billion people.

# 6. Islam is a by-product of the Catholic church, and is represented by 1.4 billion people Muslims. America was settled by the European nations all of whom were born of ancient Rome. Today America is the most powerful nation in the world in wealth, military and controls the banking systems of the world, and the stock markets in New York.

If a Babylon was ever born of sin, it's New Your city. Their leaders hate Christians, their Bible and deny every aspect of Jesus Christ. Sounds and looks like ancient Rome to me, don't you think?

The U.N. is weak, no unity, just talk and weak treaties. It's the Muslim world, Turkey, Iran, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinians, Iraq, all these hate Israel and if possible, would murder every last Jews and Christian in the world. These are the true enemies of Christ, the Jews, and Christians. All were part of the Old Roman empire the 4th beast. These will be, and are today supplied militarily by Russia who is a close friend and supporter.

The father of the Muslim world was Abraham, also the father of the Jews. Ishmael and Isaac: Esau and Jacob, Arabs coming from Ishmael and Esau, Jews from Isaac and Jacob. Enemies from the beginning until the Lord returns. Yes the Europeans will play some part in end time prophesy, but Islam is the real enemy. And my spirit tells me the Arabs and the Catholic church, three billion strong will in some way link together to fight against the Jews in the last days. Islam the military force, the Catholic church money and influence. Both have always been the enemy of the Jewish people.

Sorry, but I just would not rely on your view of history, nor your interpretation of present entities.

The Babylon Harlot "great city" of Revelation 17 is Jerusalem.

The reason it is Jerusalem, because of the plan by the orthodox Jews to build another temple there and start the old covenant worship again.

The reason why the orthodox Jews want to start up old covenant worship with a temple in Jerusalem is because they STILL REJECT JESUS OF NAZARETH AS THE CHRIST. Thus they believe they are still held to the old covenant worship.

But of course you well know all this, so you might fool the majority here, but not me.

Dpr, I agree, Jerusalem the great harlot, didn't say it wasn't. Note, I used the noun "if" when I spoke of N.Y.

The U.N.

The U.N. was formed in October of 1948, so your telling me the LORD kept this a secret from every Bible student since the New Testament was published. The Lord doesn't operate that way. The U.N. isn't like the 4th beast Daniel describes. Their more like a hmmm, a pussy cat! better yet, a little kitty, with cute green eyes!

Daniel 7:7, "A fourth beast, dreadful (the only thing dreadful about the U.N. are their useless commissions) and terrible (bad judgement) and strong (ya each member works out and lifts 100 lbs., 10 lbs per set once a month), exceedingly (the only thing they exceed is their own foolishness) and it had great iron teeth: (U.N. is toothless), it devoured (the only thing the U.N. devours is money and food), and brake in pieces (the only thing they break are their own treaties) and stamped the residue with the feet of it (the only thing they stamp may be a bug on the floor) and it was diverse (this I agree with, they are diverse) from all the beast that were before it (I can't think of one thing that was like it before 1948) and it had 10 horns, (hmmmm!) That's possible,

Horn 1, Useless, 2. greedy, 3. Self satisfying, 4. All talk and no action, you can fill in the rest or their horns.

The 4th beast is not the U.N.! this 4th beast has to be an extension of secular Rome followed by the Roman Catholic church a world power from 450 A.D., the Muslims, Ottoman both world powers; the British Empire, France, Germany, Spain, all the daughters of Rome. All were dreadful, terrible, strong, had teeth like iron, ripping people and nations apart, they devoured, the destroyed cities, stole, starved and trampled the people with iron feet. They were all different from the beasts before it, for this 4th beast had the same father and Mother, the Old Roman Empire, and the Holy Roman Empire, all the other empires were born of them.

The number 4 in the bible represents spiritual things, the 4th kingdom is not of this world.

Rob: the first 3 kingdoms were of this world, why wouldn't the 4th be?

Here's what I found number 4 to mean:

He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (Isaiah 11:12, ESV)
Earth has four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall.
There are four primary directions: north, south, east, and west.
There are four earthly kingdoms (Daniel 7:3).
Jesus' parable had four types of soil (Matthew 13).
