The kingdom of silver:
 
The 2ed kingdom in Nebuchadnezzar’s image of a man, who’s breast and arms were of silver, were the Medes and Persians. One arm of this image represents the Medes, the other arm represents the Persians. Together they formed at the chest one empire called the Medio Persian empire.
 
The empire of silver began with the fall of king Belshazzar of Babylon. Belshazzar was defeated by Cyrus the great on September 12th 539 B.C.

1.   Cyrus would die in the year 530 B.C.
2.   He would be followed by Darius beginning in 530 B.C. and ended upon his death in 486 B.C.
3.   Daniel’s vision Daniel 10:1, came in the 3ed year of king Cyrus in the year, 536 B.C.
 
4.   The return of the Jews to Israel after 70 years in captivity, a captivity that began in 606 B.C., and came to an end in the year 536 B.C. The return of the first caravan of Jews, some 44,000 returned with Zerubbabel and Jeshua.

5.   The rebuilding of the second Temple began in 535 B.C., but the Work of Temple was stopped by a royal decree.
6.   Haggai prophesy came about 520 B.C.
7.   Zechariah came between 520 and 508 B.C.
8.   Building of the Temple resumed, 520 B.C.
1.   The dedication of the 2ed Temple came in 515 B.C.
 
2.   The Greco Persian wars were fought between 499 to 449 B.C.

3.   King Darius dies in 486 B.C.

4.   Ahasuerus, or Xerxes 1st began his rule in 486 B.C. and died in 465 B.C.

5.   The events concerning Esther and Mordecai began under the rule of Xerxes 1st. King Xerxes was most likey the king Esther had married because the timeframe is correct.

6.   The Jews feast of Purim was set in the year 474 B.C.
 
7.   Ezra was sent to Judea 467 B.C. to settle the Jewish common wealth, and to reform church at Jerusalem.

8.   Artaxerxes 1 of Persia ruled from 465 to 424 B.C. He released the Jews to rebuild walls in Jerusalem in the year 457 B.C.

9.   The year 457 B.C. began the countdown for the 490 years spoken of in Daniel 9:27. “Seventy weeks (490 years) are determined upon thy (Daniel’s) people.”

10.   Nehemiah died in 409 B.C. at the age of 70.

11.   Malachi’s book was written after 444 B.C.
 
12.   408 B.C. closes the O.T.

13.   Alexander the Great attacked the mighty Persian armies in 334 B.C., defeating them in 331 B.C. Alexander would die and untimely death in the year 323 B.C.

The Medio Persian empire lasted for some 200 years. So far from Nebuchadnezzar to Alexander some 270 years have been covered. Next, I will give you a time line concerning the “belly and thighs of brass, the mighty Greek empire of Alexander the Great, his four generals, and king Seleucus, and the mighty Selecuid empire.
