I did a search on infant circumcision, did not find one at this site, and as such would like to take up this topic. In short, I would like to know why different parents have chosen to either circumcise or not circumcise their son’s.

This is a topic I have moved on both sides of the fence and have never felt completely sure about. At one time I was against it, at another time for it, and know sit in the middle.
I am not circumcised, yet my wife and I chose to have our son’s become circumcised. There seems to be pro’s and con’s on both sides. For example, the website (www.mothersagainstcirc.o rg) provide scientific reports on why circumcion should not be practiced, including credible research on that sexual activity with a non-circumcised man is better because a more sensitive penis creates more sensitive men who do not need to be as aggressive and self-centered in bed. Recently, Time magazine even had a feature on re-thinking circumcision (Nov 2, 2007). On the other side, www.circinfo.net/ is another website that references scientific studies on why circumcision is better, including credible research on that sexual activity with a circumcised man is better because a less sensitive penis creates longer durations of erections and sexual activity. The there is the entire issue of how the Bible in interpreted on this issue and cleanness.

In essence, I would like to hear thoughts on this and hopefully create some type of respectful and non-perverted dialogue on this subject.

It's a personal decision. We chose circumcision because his father was circumcised. It has hygiene benefits lasting into the senior (elderly) years.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about his future sex life being dependent on circumcision. He can be sensitive and satisfied either way.

My son was circumcised as a small boy for medical reasons. I would never have had him circumcised otherwise. I cant see the point of carrying our a medical procedure on a baby or child unless it is medically nessessary.

My boys were circumcised as newborns.  At the time I believed I was doing the right thing religious-wise. Now I know there is no basis for saying Christians must do so if they choose not to.  The procedure is simple and not dangerous, although it looks a little alarming for the next few days afterwards.  I don't regret the decision, and hopefully, my boys won't, either.

love,

The Jews were required to do it but Christians arent. My hubbies mum had him circumcised at birth but he has no idea why and neither do I.

We had one boy circumcised and one had one boy uncircumcised.  There has been little difference really (aside from the obvious).  I see no real reason for it now, but what do I know?  Smile

Since Paul wrote, "Circumcision availeth nothing in the Lord" we decided it was unnecessary. Being unnecessary, we didn't do it.

I was, my kids probably won't be. It "can" be a hygiene issue...but not really if you are a thorough bather. Yet another "symbol" of the church that I was forcefully brainwashed into.

When I gave birth to my son, I chose not to get it done. I couldn't make him go through this procedure and then watch him suffer more than he already was...if Gabriel had survived, he would have been in need of at least a dozen operations...I couldn't see the purpose or necessity of also making him have a circumcision...

I guess the one area that I really wonder about is the sexual activity part. Does anyone else wonder about whether circumcision actually affects the sexula aspects of marraige.

I realize that the most important part of marriage is being Christ-like and that although important, there are more important aspects than the sexual part of marriage. But does anyone else -- or did anyone else -- ever think about how circumcision can affect the actual sexula aspect of marriage.

Jusrt curious if I am the only one who thinks about this (if needed, please re-read the original post).

My dad talked me into having our boys circumcised at birth because he had to as a teenager for some reason (draft registration or something like that).  I recall him saying he had to be for some reason.  One of our adopted sons was not.  He has to spend more time making sure it is cleaned and we had some issues with mechanical cleaning and exposing the urethral opening when he was younger.

That might almost be impossible to determine...at least from a male standpoint...because each only knows "one feeling/experience" depending on if they are or are not circumsized. A woman could tell you if there is a difference though.
