A Spurgeon daily devotional is part of the eSword program.   These devotions are a blessing.

God has given us a Comforter to lead and guide us in to all truth.  However, many ministers fear to allow that comforter to lead and guide their flock.  Therefore, they preach and teach precepts and principles seeking to keep their flock safe.  Unfortunately, this has the effect of making their flock dependent upon them for everything because they naturally seek out the law-giver any time they have a question, concern, or problem.  Thus, all the weight of their people comes upon their shoulders.

Why is that  rofl ?

I agree that too many rush to their pastor for answers they should first ask God to provide, but sometimes its nice to know you can have a human voice help shine the light on something you may be struggling with... ::shrug:: Not to obey them as if they are God, but to perhaps get a different perspective than you might have.

Amen to that, if the Pastor did not possess a degree of wisdom and knowledge, often greater than ours, his/her position would be redundant.
