TBN station might have been pulled off the air
« on: April 18, 2007, 01:43:29 PM »
Hello ::smile:: I noticed on my TV that TBN has not been showing in a few days.Did somebody have enough common sense to take it off the air?During the past few days they had some kind of sow the seed offering to keep TBN on the air.Anybody know about it.? ::lookaround::

They do their version of a "pledge drive" every year about this time where they ask for donations and love offerings. And while I find much that is objectionable on TBN, it's not all bad. They do have some redeeming shows. Last time I was channel surfing (a couple days ago) they were on down here. I can't imagine them going off the air permanently. Likely it was some sort of technical problem with your cable provider, or perhaps they've dropped TBN from their line-up.

Pax.

I think their pledge drives are a blight on the airways. Maybe this is the unforgivable sin? At least it should be.

That's my TBN viewing for this week.   (Translation:   Seed = $    PREcious seed = $$$$)

It bugs me enough when I'm channel surfing and catch a pledge drive on PBS.  We pay for cable.  These folks want us to pay for cable so they can come into our house and beg for even more coin.

Checked again this morning & TBN is still there.  However, the Inspiration Network was taken off the air for some reason on April 1.

Maybe so more will watch TBN and be persuaded to give.  ::pondering::

Maybe see if it comes back on after the fund drive on TBN.  ::shrug::

I rarely watch TV at all anyways. No loss if it is all off the air for me, really.

Yeah, but I'm sure they do reach some people around the world. Putting the Word in front of them. Not that I've ever really watched TBN.....they may be false teachers but as far as I know they are okay. I think overall it's a good thing they are on TV.

I hear you, but PBS fits the same bill.

As does, in some degree, the Discovery, History, and DiY channels (you can purchase the episode you're watching by logging on to XXXXchannel.com).

A large percentage of their programs present the health and prosperity gospel, and a large percentage present the end-times prophecy gospel of Lindsay/Hagee/LaHaye. But they also have kids shows, apologetics programming, and at odd hours programming from other denominations, such as Charles Stanley (who I like) Schuler's Crystal Cathedral and even Roman Catholic. So its not ALL bad, but generally speaking, I much prefer the Roman Catholic ETWN-even with the major doctrinal divide their shows on the whole are much better done, have a much meatier content, and a bit of a wider variety. They seem to possess more integrity than some of the TBN programming.

Now, I have actually watched a bit of ETWN in recent months, and I have to say that I agree, that it has some good stuff on there.

Don't think I've seen any blue or pink haired ladies on there yet though.

That Mother Angelica, what a cut-up.

I've enjoyed several TV shows on TBN in past years -- no cable now so no good reception so I don't watch TV now.

When I lived in Sioux City we had a translator go in out in the farmlands nearby, so that's when I first saw TBN programming.

I liked Meadowlark Lemons' show, and Josh McDowell's, and several others'.  And they will show good movies from time to time.  It's not like ALL their programming is the unnatural-hair people.
