My wife is still hunting for her tree topper...

Did she find it? My lighted star tree topper bit the dust this year. Last night, I picked up another one at Michael's for 50% off, plus another 20% off with a coupon.

She never found it, apparently "under the stairs" is capable of consuming items that were positively known to be there. We picked up another goddy star at Home Depot.

Today, I needed some jeans, and went to a nearby mall.   It was a nightmare of crowded lots, irritated drivers, and packed stores.   I was kind of surprised, but this particular mall seems to be running against the trend.

Mrs. B is very efficient at Christmas shopping, starting her list around Easter, accumulating gifts over they months so that we don't have much left to do by December, other than shipping them off to whoever isn't going to be able to make it home for the holiday.

So we haven't been to malls much at all.

RB, I've wanted a Bunn coffee maker since I was 16 years old and waitressing at the pancake house. I poured many a cup of hot coffee from their Bunn coffee maker. That's when I started drinking coffee. Actually, since I've wanted a Bunn for decades, I should probably go ahead and buy one.
They are wonderful~you would need to hook a water line "directly into" the Bunn which is not hard to do~if someone has some plumbing skills. You can purchase a two-burner at Sams for less than $300.00 or thereabout, but I need a larger one for the men at the shop. I did like the one you mention after watching the video, but it seems that it was too tedious for me to mess with, but traveling it that seems it would be a good choice. Sherry does not like coffee only the smell of it, so it would be me doing all that tedious work. Besides, she sleeps in while I arise up every day at 330 am. I told her once~Honey, I wish that you would get up in the morning and see the beautiful sunrise with me~she said...."I would if you stay up and watch the sunset with me!" Well, I do not go to bed that early, but shortly afterward! 3:30 to 7:00 am is the best time of the day for quietness and not being disturbed!

I bought myself a Christmas gift yesterday.  ::blushing::  It's a Chemex coffee maker. This is the smoothest, best tasting cup of coffee I've ever had. I'm tempted to run back to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and buy another one for my parents for Christmas. I have been using a French press ever since my old Proctor Silex percolator bit the dust.
Looking forward to serving Chemex coffee to my Christmas guests!

For 20 years or more I have used, and will only use a Bunn, home brewer.

NO water line to hook up, just pour the water into the top and it drips through to a perfect pot in 3 minutes.

NO longer.

This is my 3rd cause the first went the way of the coffee maker graveyard, the 2nd had an issue in the last month of the warranty...warranty is 3 years,  so Bunn just replaced it and it has been great. Use it every day.

The link is  my model,  it is still made and the best $100.00 I ever spent.

Coffee tastes terrible.

Not all coffee is created equal.

Restaurant coffee at either Morton's or Ruth Chris is dreadful.

Restaurant coffee at the golden archesis excellent with the proper number of creamers.

I am now buying McCafe for home use.  medium brew. I make it a bit weaker so no creamers at home.

Was buying at Walgreens....but have since signed up for Amazons auto-ship of it. ($5 a can less then Walgreens.)

I hate, HATE Starbucks

Rella, be careful with McDonald's coffee. McDonald's coffee has more caffeine than most restaurants, making it tricky for anyone with BP or heart arrhythmia issues. Plus having more caffeine in their coffee brings you back to them more to get that caffeine fix. Kind of like what Chick-fil-A does by using more MSG than many other restaurants. That large dose of MSG (a potent flavor enhancer) keeps those drive-thru lanes long and strong on a daily basis.
MSG is not only a flavor enhancer, but also a vasodilator which can cause certain health problems in some people. I have a rare condition called Erythromelalgia. With Erythromelalgia, the blood vessels in your extremities fully dilate and blood rushes to that area - most commonly in the feet, where mine happens. Since MSG is a vasodilator, large doses of MSG sets off a flare. When I eat MSG loaded Chick-fil-A, my feet immediately turn red and get hot to the touch from the blood rushing in. Takes a while to cool them down and the redness to leave. It can be pretty uncomfortable. When I'm eating out, I usually know immediately if the restaurant's food has large amounts of MSG because my feet will turn red and get hot. Weird.
Several times I've tweeted to Chick-fil-A asking them to lower the MSG in their food - to no avail.

I dislike all coffee.  I generally don't drink warm things.

Seeing as no-one has come here yet to play devil's advocate, I'll play God's advocate against xmas.

I am not picking anyone here, it is the leaders & false doctrine they preach, that are the culprits. The 'xmas Jesus' is the one that makes you feel comfortable, every Sunday, & is similar to the real Jesus, as Rom16v17 says

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.

Contrary is 'para' in Greek - where we get parallel from, making the 'other Jesus' of 2Cor11v4 seem the same, but Yeshua (I prefer personally) says we will be hated for the truth we preach, but we will go through trials & tribulations, as we conform to Christ's likeness.

I don't mind all the xmas salutations you want to share, I'll just keep on with the truth.

And a very fine devil's advocate you have been.

Whenever someone leads off with such a phrase, I assume they are indeed advocating for the devil

God's advocate against Christmas.

YES... I took the time to put the Christ into Christmas for that is the only  reason to celebrate and wish fellow believers the joys of what the day that was chosen to celebrate means.

No one will come to play devil's advocate with you simply because that is a title you wear so well.

" says we will be hated for the truth we preach, but we will go through trials & tribulations, as we conform to Christ's likeness"

The truth "we"preach... hated for that truth? You are speaking a truth....

You are of you father... the author of lies... and nothing you say is truth.

In any event.... Have yourself a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

I hope everyone is having a nice Christmas.

This is my tree for 2019.

In honor of my sweet little doggie who passed away a week and a half ago, I bought a doggie DNA kit for my newish grand-doggie. She's mixed breed, and was adopted. My daughter really wants to know what breed mix she is, so as a surprise, I bought the DNA kit. We made a fun game of it. On Christmas morning, I had everyone write down what breed mix they think she is, and when the DNA test comes back, the person with the best guess will win a $25 gift card. Later, we discovered an app where you load your dog's pic and it will supposedly give you the correct breed mix of your dog. We loaded pics of the dog and it came back with Bichon, poodle, and Westie, so when the DNA tests get back, we'll see how close the app is to the truth. Oddly enough, that's the exact mix my sister guessed, so if the app is right, she'll win!

Rella, your tree is beautiful and huge. How tall is it?

TC, I love Rankin Bass Christmas shows!

Thanks about the tree . It is 7 1/2 ft tall. I could not get the entire height in one pic without the lights getting blurry.

Yours is very pretty also.  It looks like you have crystal bead garland? Beautiful.

Keep us posted on your grand doggies DNA. I never knew they did such a thing.

Took the family, staying with us, out to see the lights last night...

This is just over the hill from us. Could not get all of the trees and shrubs in but nothing was left unlit.

Ohhh, the lights are so lovely.

Yes, DNA testing kits are now available for dogs. I just bought the basic kit for Sandy that will give her breed mix and percentages. If my daughter wants to, she can upgrade later, without additional tests to get the health panel for $50. As with Ancestry and other human DNA testing sites, the basic kit will link the dog to other DNA matches, so it's possible to trace an adopted dog to his/her own relatives.
