Beg to differ with ya, Deplorable Jaime, but the bidet is the greatest invention. Yes, I have one. Yes, I use it. Without going into too much detail, with a bidet, there is no need for TP, soothing ointments, scented whatevers... Stay fresh as a daisy - all day, every day.

I don’t know when swamp butt ensues in the hot summer, Johnny Cash’s hit song “Burning Ring of Fire” comes to mind. A mallady only Desitin soothes.

You may laugh but I have actually considered this often, and I'm convinced that it is the RAILROAD~I could give so many reasons as to why I believe this to be so. I retired from Roadway Express Inc. almost twenty years ago with full retirement so I know a little about the transportation industry. The Railroad will NEVER go out of business but the big trucking businesses may one day, or at least they will never be used as they were from 1930 to 2000.

And the power of those things. Unreal. Years ago, I was an emergency department admitting clerk for the local hospital. My first night on the job, they brought in a man who had been hit by a train. I will never forget how he looked, how his family reacted, and how I felt having to help the nurse retrieve and document his personal effects. From that day forward, I have always been extra cautious at crossings. Probably over cautious.

Without question, at least by me, transmission of electricity. It provides us with the means of interior lighting, indoor environmental control, "power" equipment, cooking heat, & many other things we now take for granted. this is followed closely in importance by radio(dependent upon electricity), internal combustion engines, antibiotics & vaccines, printing machines, & cloth-making devices such as looms.

Easy call -- Fire is clearly the greatest invention of all time. But then perhaps it is the control of fire, being able to ignite a fire, rather than fire itself.
